(not so) Wordless Wednesday...

I remember the first time I saw the Mackinac Bridge bride, I was standing on the fan tail of the ferry with my dad on one of our family get-together's in the Yooper. I marveled at the insect sized workmen scurrying over the steel super-structure like ants devouring a PB&J sandwich. Full of child-like wonderment, I pondered in my minds eye what the yet unfinished suspension span would look like when done.

That was the last time I saw the bridge. In the early 90's, I made my first of 9 white-knuckled trips across the bridge on my '84 Gold Wing. White-knuckled, because there was only one time that the wind was below 25 knots. The trips were quite an adrenaline rush, even for an experienced rider. But then, 4 fingers of Jack, will give most folks enough liquid courage to do just about anything...

Michael, Great story! I'm sure the four fingers of Jack was a lot of help. Love the photo and thanks for sharing.

Michael,

If you had your own a magazine I'd subscribe to it because everything you write is so well written, educational, entertaining, interesting, and you always have really great articles. For now... I'll settle for subscribing to your Blog.

You are truly talented!

Your story about the Mackinac Bridge gave me a rush! I've heard so many good stories about it, but none as good as yours! I love the photo too!

Howdy and evening to you Michael

Michael,
that there sure is a mighty fine photo you took of the Mackinac Bridge. Being a biker also, I sure know that ride was mighty fun.

Hi Michael,

I have visited relatives in Michigan and crossed it many times.  My grandmother took great pride in walking the bridge each year.  It is one of my earliest memories of her.  Great photo and thanks for the memories/nostalgia flash.
