That is perhaps the way you stumbled upon this post.

Okeena Park is just the place for your entire family to spend several hours. Almost everyday, my wife and I go to the park and walk on the 1 mile paved walking track that winds around the entire park. As we walk I notice many different varieties of trees and flowers.

I was there today and ran into Mary Beth Sheppard who is a member of the master gardners who put so much time into the plants and trees at the park. Two of my friends Betty and Kim also are in that group and they spend alot of time there as well.

One thing I like to do while walking is to "try" to identify the different trees along the walking trail. There are short signs identifying the various trees. You can see a couple of pictures I took of these signs and the trees they identify.

In addition to the walking trail, the kids will enjoy the swings or playground equipment which are pretty close together. Why don't you just take the family there for the day and enjoy a picnic lunch under a gazebo(3-4 available) or sit at one the picnic tables. I was at the picnic tables today when I snapped that picture of the squirrel on the tree.

Later in the afternoon you are sure to see kids playing sand volleyball or playing on the basketball courts.

In another week or so the kiddie pool and grown-up pool will be filled with water and red cross swimming lessons will begin. A couple of weeks later the big pool will be open to the public(for a small fee).

Perhaps you like to look at flowers! The master gardeners sure have outdone themselves on the flowers. They are just beautiful.

If you are like me, when you finish your exercise you just want to find a place to relax. You will see the picture of my favorite place to relax at the park.

Even the squirrel has something to look forward too! WHERE was your favorite part, the covered pavilion?
