What Would you do if someone Keyed your Car?

Over the past two weeks my car has been in the Shop for extensive repairs and a 100K miles Service B Tune up. After driving it now for a day, I am starting to feel back to normal...with one exception of course, a 5-inch gash right above the wheel well on the passenger side.

I was at a loss for word, when I saw it.  I felt so violated...I have been trying to figure out what coward would have done something like this.  What would I have done had I seen someone destroying my property...it would not have been a pretty sight.

Today, I had an interesting conversation with my friend, Ginger, she said, "Lloyd, they are Jealous of you" Look at the car you drive?"  They can't afford it so they hate to see someone like you who has it." Nothing that she said, sat well with me.  Nothing justifies this action.

I would like to hear from other real estate professionals about their experience with people scratching their vehicles.  What do you do to mitigate the situation.  As REALTORS, our vehicles are an extension of our business.

Sorry that someone did that to you (and your car) - I've never gotten keyed - I HAVE however gotten broken into - and that didn't feel very good either. :(

Lloyd - mean people just suck!

Good Morning C Lloyd, in many cases it is the result of someone else having a bad day and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time OR the right place at the right time.  Never take it personal, the chances they know you are remote.

That's just spiteful for someone to do that - and I agree with Dan, that it is probably just a small-minded person that had a moment of stupidity and vented on your vehicle!

Additional Information

Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, New Mexico are among the most stable real estate markets in the United States. This has caught the attention of the national media. As such, it is incumbent on local Realtors to provide information about our cities for those interested in investing, relocating, or visiting. My goal with this blog is to highlight issues or topics in real estate, and where appropriate apply them to the local markets.
