What Would you do if someone Keyed your Car?

What Would you do if someone Keyed your Car?

Over the past two weeks my car has been in the Shop for extensive repairs and a 100K miles Service B Tune up. After driving it now for a day, I am starting to feel back to normal...with one exception of course, a 5-inch gash right above the wheel well on the passenger side.

I was at a loss for word, when I saw it.  I felt so violated...I have been trying to figure out what coward would have done something like this.  What would I have done had I seen someone destroying my property...it would not have been a pretty sight.

Today, I had an interesting conversation with my friend, Ginger, she said, "Lloyd, they are Jealous of you" Look at the car you drive?"  They can't afford it so they hate to see someone like you who has it." Nothing that she said, sat well with me.  Nothing justifies this action.

I would like to hear from other real estate professionals about their experience with people scratching their vehicles.  What do you do to mitigate the situation.  As REALTORS, our vehicles are an extension of our business.

It is a mighty small person that would do something like that.  I think if I saw them in the act I would first capture the act with my cell camera and then immediately call the police.  If they fled by car I would get the plate number.  As for the person who did it....I believe in karma...they will get their due.

At least no one got hurt.

It might be jealousy, or it might just being in the wrong place at the wrong time when some low life happened by.  Either way it is maddening!  I have not had that happen to me and I don't know any way to avoid it if it is my turn.

Lloyd, I am so sorry.  One of my friends had his mirror taken off and a long white stripe left on his burgundy car in a parking lot.  Not a note....nothing.  And this was in a church lot.  So much for responsibility.  But, a keying, is a whole nother matter.  That is so very intentional.

Lloyd~ As Rose said, I did have my car vandalized when I was a teacher. Keying is vandalism, pure and simple. Since I've been in real estate, my car has been broken into three times. At least THAT makes a little sense, as they were looking for something to steal. It is still a horrible feeling of violation.

Lloyd - I am so sorry this happened to you. In all likelihood, they were either jealous, or just punks. Or both.

Sorry that someone did that to you (and your car) - I've never gotten keyed - I HAVE however gotten broken into - and that didn't feel very good either. :(

Lloyd - mean people just suck!

Good Morning C Lloyd, in many cases it is the result of someone else having a bad day and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time OR the right place at the right time.  Never take it personal, the chances they know you are remote.

That's just spiteful for someone to do that - and I agree with Dan, that it is probably just a small-minded person that had a moment of stupidity and vented on your vehicle!
