Texas Lakes

three views of Texas LakesIf you were to google how many lakes are in Texas Answers.com would tell you there are 6.736. Not sure where that number came from but I do know there are a lot of lakes in Texas. I would suggest that the answer could vary based on one’s idea of a lake more so than the actual definition itself.

In a recent article I was reading in D Magazine they stated there was 170 lakes in Texas. In fact, it was this article that started me to thinking about creating a new group in Activerain all about Texas lakes, properties and daily living around these areas.

Much of my growing up has been in and around the lakes especially the one in the heart of Dallas, White Rock Lake. I do have a lot of fun experiences surrounding this lake. I can recall many good memories such as the times I would ride my bicycle around the entire lake. I’ve also walked it but the bicycle is a much better idea.

My thoughts sail away thinking about White Rock Lake. I shall have to write a feature post on the lake and post it in the group Texas Lakes. If you have a favorite lake in Texas that you write about please come on over and join the group. There are so many wonderful lakes in Texas that writing about them could not be exhausted any time soon.

I came across this link Texas Lakes Finder that showcases many of the lakes in Texas.

Sonny, the Hill Country is a beautiful area with some magnificent lakes. I'm looking now for a picture of Inks Lake, State Park outside of Marble Falls. Please share any posts you may write on Lake Travis or any other area lake as you look into moving to Austin, TX.

Good morning, Teral. I did not know there were that many lakes either. Are you sure they are not counting ponds and watering holes? - LOL

With the size of Texas one can find the environment they love somewhere in the state. I lived in Virginia but I don't recall being in your beautiful state. Hope you get to visit us, Rebecca.
