Will You Cross The Finish Line?

The 31 Day Challenge in May was definitely a challenge for many of who participated. Like Bill and Cyndi Daves, I prepared a list of items for the whole month that I wanted to blog about, and it was just a matter on staying focused and getting it done. Now, that I have crossed Finish Line like so many others, I am on track to blog everyday now.

Go over and thank Bill and Cyndi too for this encouraging post to keep us in the game to blog everyday with a passion.

WILL YOU CROSS THE FINISH LINE

may calendar

When I first read about the 31 Days of May Challenge I knew in my heart that in order to see this challenge through to the end, I was going to have to COMMIT to the challenge,  to SELLFinish Line OUT to it.  I decided then and there that I was going to CROSS THE FINISH LINE.

I prepared myself for the challenge.  I started to make a list of ideas for articles.  I started looking around me for events happening in or around our area that I could write about.  I started writing drafts as ideas came to me.  In other words, I started "training".

TubIt seemed that as the first week blended into the second finding ideas became easier each day.   The actual “work” part of it was calling up the motivation to press on.  Zig Ziglar says “People say that motivation doesn’t last.   Well, neither does bathing - that’s why we recommend it daily”.   Each day I had to motivate myself to make it though one more day.  To write one more post.  To find the time in an all ready crammed schedule.  target

Early on it was the prospect of earning almost 10,000 points over the month that motivated me.  But somewhere around the middle of the challenge the points were no longer the reward.  It was the self-satisfaction of saying I did it, that I was able to CROSS THE FINISH LINE.

We can apply this to our daily lives.  What is your personal challenge to yourself?  What do you need to get done today, this week, this month, this year.  How will you attack it? Will you sell out to it or simply say I WILL TRY and let the chips fall where they may?

toolboxHow will you prepare yourself to succeed?  What tools do you need?  How much time are you willing to devote to reaching your goal?  This day, this week, this month and this year will pass.  This is certain.  Whether you reach your goal is entirely up to you.  Just like an athlete prepares for a competition, so should we prepare for attaining our goal.  Train, practice, learn, surround yourself with winners.  Winners never quit and quitters never win!

One of my favorite sayings about goal setting is “Not telling anyone about your goals and then achieving them is kind of like wetting your pants in a dark suit.  You get a really warm feeling but no one knows about it”.

I hope you’ll comment below and tell me what your personal goal is and how y
ou’re planning to attain it.  Sharing your goal is part of the process.

Whatever you do, no matter how long it takes,  whether you crawl,

walk or run - CROSS THE FINISH LINE!

Hi Bill and Cyndi, Okay, Since, I am going to enter this new mobile marketing challenge for June, and blog every day, my new anticipated date to reach 100,000 points will be in July, Most likely the first week of July. I have reach No. 11 in San Antonio, but I believe I can be No 10 within 3 months.

Hi Eric, you find that it's not that hard to stay committed to blogging everyday. My advice would be to read as many posts from some of the top bloggers, and comment as often as you can. There is also a Group for Newbies in Active Rain that you can join. It will very beneficial to join as many groups as you can to learn for other members. Here are some links.

Hi Wayne, Yes, I remember the first time I had to run that 2 mile run for that PT test. I wanted to quit, but a close friend in my platoon would not let me quit. That's how it is with Active Rain now. There's no time to slow down or even think about quitting.
