Welcome to Ralph's Weekly Feature: Two Truths and a Lie: Guess Which One Is The Lie?

Vienna BelloEach week, I'm going to feature one Active Rain Member, with their photo, and what they are going to do is tell you 2 Truths about them and 1 Lie.

The object of the game is to guess which of the 3 bits of trivia about them is a lie!

Each new game will be posted on Friday, and then the answer will be revealed by the featured member a week later on the following Friday.

It's a great way to get to know your fellow ActiveRain members and staff.

This week, we will be featuring: Susan Neal

Susan is a Real Estate Broker with Century 21 Noel David Realty, based out of Fair Oaks, California.

Susan provides full time real estate services in Fair Oaks CA, with friendly professionalism, 30+ years experience. She works hard to give her buyer or seller a low-stress transaction. "Happy clients make me happy."

OK, Here goes:

I'm a former solo hang glider flyer.

As a kid, I swam in the piano-shaped pool in Liberace's backyard.

I play 5 musical instruments.

OK, gang. Tell me which one is the lie!

Remember, for those members who guess the most number of correct lies at the end of the month, you will be awarded 1,500 Bonus Points! If there is a tie, each member who ties will be awarded 1,000 Bonus Points!

Okay, so I'm late, but I think it has to be number 1 as it doesn't have to do with music.  However, I bet she hang glides with a partner....

I guess No 1.

If you play the violin, you can most likely play viola, cello and bass and most people who play strings also play piano. If there is a musical connection then the pool makes most sense.

This one is tough (aren't they all?).  Susan doesn't give much away on her posts nor her webisite.  So my guess is a total stab in the dark.  #1...hmmm, #2...hmmm, #3...hmmm.  Decisions, decisions.  My guess is #3

I believe Jane is correct - but I think I'll go with #1 - Sue looks like musical and not solo-hang-glider type. I hope I am right.

(Christine already showed a picture of piano pool - so I will be surprised if #2 is a lie!)

I'm in for #3 being the lie. If you can play 3 you can play a dozen and you've probably tried.

I'm going to pick #1 as the lie, for now.  I just might change my mind!

This has been a lot of fun, and I have enjoyed reading your answers.  Here is the truth.

#1 is true:  I used to love to hang glide and for some time I was out in the hills in San Bernardino County most weekends with some friends.  We all brought our hang gliders and would spend the day driving up the mountain and flying down.  A friend and I were taking turns being the driver and the flyer, and one morning he crashed, was seriously injured and smashed my glider to bits.  I had to help the emergency squad get him off the side of the mountain and get him to the hospital.  That was my last day of flying, unfortunately, as I never got another glider.

#2 is also true.  My father was a general contractor and we lived in Southern California.  He became the contractor to the stars and our family became friends with many celebrities, including Liberace, who we called "Lee" and his brother George.  We were invited to Lee's Sherman Oaks home to swim on several occasions after the pool was built.  I still have some of the memorabilia that he gave us, including piano ashtrays, piano music boxes, and autographed photos.

The lie is #3.  Although I played piano for many years, I am just beginning to get back to it as I recently bought the first piano I have had in quite awhile.  I used to take my ukelele wherever I went and played it constantly.  I worked in a music studio as a teen and taught lessons on accordian and guitar, even though I did not actually play those instruments.  I fiddled around on the accordian but never got so I could call myself a player.  Same with the guitar.  I could try playing it like a uke and ignore the fifth string, but it didn't work very well. The reason I could teach was that I read music and I had fingering charts for the accordian bass lines and for the guitar.  I could tell if they were doing it right or wrong even if I wasn't a real player.  So although I can figure out how to play a few things on a number of instruments, I would say that I play only two.

So thanks for all your guesses, and now you know a bit more about me!

Missed it because I had to go to the other side of Florida's Alligator Alley overnight (The East Coast) for some meetings and returned late!  Anyway, I would have guessed wrong!

Missed it -- again...took a chance at #1 despite my hunch that #3 is correct -- and this is what happens when you don't listen to your heart...two more weeks to go.

How neat.  I should have guess right.  I grew up and lived most of my life in San Bernardino County and grew up only 5 blocks from those mountains.  And, I probably remember the story of your friend; the hand gliding accidents always made the headlines, although not as many as you might imagine.  :) Gail  Great job
