Looking For a Paperclip

~ Looking For a Paperclip ~

How often do we find paperclips lying around everywhere; in our car seats, on the car floor mats, all over our house, at the bottom of our purses, in pockets of clothing, everywhere.  Right?  I am always picking them up.  If I only had a nickle for every one I picked up in my lifetime, I would be rich.  (Okay, maybe not rich, but at least more money in the retirement account than I have now.)  I wouldn't be able to even begin to guess how many paperclips could be found at the dump.   Billions, I suppose.

So today, I am on my way to drop off an offer (yes, that is correct, hand deliver an offer) and I realized I had loose papers.  Not to worry, I thought, there is always one somewhere in my car.  So, I continued to drive to where I needed to go.  Once I arrived, I started my search for the always present paperclip.  Do you think I could find one?   Nope!  Not in my purse.  Not in any pocket.  Not on the car floor, or car seat.  No where to be found.  I looked in the trunk, the glove compartment, center console.  I even got out of my car and scoured the parking lot looking for that elusive paperclip.

Can you believe I was actually looking on the ground for a silly paperclip?  I am just glad that no one stopped to ask me if I needed any help looking for whatever I was so diligently looking for.  How embarrassing would that have been?

Well, I gave up my search and went into the office and asked the receptionist for a paperclip.  I left the paperclipped group of papers with the receptionist for the other agent and went on my merry way.  Not only did I spend valuable time looking for a silly paperclip, but now I am writing about it!  Who would have ever thought?!

Dawn this reminds me of a situation I got myself into once.  I left my wallet at home by accident, and realized this after I got on the turnpike, with toll due at the exit.  I pulled over and scoured through my car, under the mats...in all of those places you discussed, and come up with enough money to pay the toll, plus 10 cents!  Your car must be way more clean than mine!

Hi Dawn,

Sometimes we find the oddest things that make a mark on our day. It wouldn't have surprised me though that if someone had offered to help you find what you were lokking for, they would have had a paperclip in their pocket or purse.

Have a GREAT day,

Warren

Ha, I totally get that!  It is a law that whatever we're looking for will turn up in multiples when we no longer need it.  :-)

Sometimes it's the little things that make us stop.  A paper clip, a hair clip, a chip clip - when you need one they are nowhere to be found!

Dawn - now I can look at paperclips in a new way. I once worked for an organisation where paperclips were forbidden ~ seems like major paperwork had become attached to something minor, accidently of course.

Too funny Dawn, I've had similar experiences.  They are EVERYWHERE when you don't want one, then when you do, they are nowhere to be found.  Great post!
