He/She Who Hesitates is Lost

By
Real Estate Agent

Real estate is not for the faint of heart.  When you see what you want you have to reach out and grab it.  Being aggressive is a good thing.  If you're a home buyer and you see a property you love and get your offer together that night, or the next day, what kind of message does that send the seller...  It tells them a)You're serious and b) You don't have time to waste.  As agents we are at fault oftentimes for not pushing our clients enough.  When a buyer is 95% of the way there, that last shadow of a doubt is nothing more than cold feet.  We all know that no home will have everything, and that there will always be something a client would like to change.  It's our job to educate our clients on having a reasonable expectation.  How many of you have lost deals because another agent/buyer was more aggressive than you were?  I know I have, and I can't always blame myself, after all you can't push a brick wall and expect it to move.  But I'm always working to get better because in client relationships oftentimes what's good for the goose is good for the gander.  If you as an agent are wasting time/losing deals you should be making, your clients are also wasting time and losing homes they should be moving into or moving on from.

Matt - aggressive is likely too strong a word for me I prefer assertive ..... if you do not ask it will not happen ..... there is little room in real estate for order takers.

Assertive.  Thats much more polite.  Its also why I love working with referral clients because when you are assertive with them they know its because you're acting in your best interest and not because you're pushing them into a hasty decision.  Thanks Kathy
