CRACK !! BANG !! WATCH OUT !!

Today while showing a home my clients wife and I heard a loud bang and then another! I looked around and then I heard it....HELP ! HELP !

I looked over and saw a teenager pinned to his driveway by his huge truck! He was literally bent in half at the waist with the weight of the truck resting on his back! His face was smashed into the concrete driveway. I screamed at him that I was coming and started at a run to help him.

My clients wife stared screaming at her husband to come help. In a flash he was out of the attic of the home and sprinting past me to jack the truck off the young man. My clients wife was right behind me shouting do you have your phone? We need to call 911. I screamed back I left it in my truck I will use their house phone!

I yanked the house front door open and screamed is anyone home...his mother came running out of the kitchen and I told her, "the truck has fallen on your son!, We need to call 911" She ran out to check on him.

By that time my client had freed him from being pinned down. He had a deep gouge in his cheek. His mom was freaked out and yelled at him.. I told you not to work on the truck by yourself. He kept insisting he was fine.

I looked at the mom and said he needs a doctor the frame of the truck was resting on his back.

My client said he may not feel any pain right now but later tonight he will be in agony. We watched while she drove off with him to the hospital.

I hope he is okay... that scared me so bad I almost started crying...

I had a friend who died when the engine he was working on fell and crushed his chest killing him instantly...no one found him for many hours....

Guys if you need to work on the shocks of your car or truck but a tire under the rim just in case AND make sure you are using a heavy duty jack.

ONE MORE THING... as we were walking away the jack under the truck gave away again and fell with a loud bang one more time! That is some scary stuff.

My husband and son are car nuts and I worry constantly about their safety.  Having a car fall on you isn't the only way to get hurt out there in the garage or on the driveway.

You never know  when you're going to be someplace you're needed to help in an emergency. He was lucky you were on the scene and got him help.

Everyone: He had the music so loud in the garage that his own family could not hear him crying out for help! I hope I never see anything like that again!

Hope the kid still went to the hospital to get checked out. Some injuries don't physically and outwardly manifest themselves.

Had a similar story with my brother, who at the age of six was pretending to wash the car. He inadvertently released the break and the car rolled back and crashed into the gate. Thankfully, he wasn't behind it, and none of his friends (who were helping him "clean) were either. Scary!

Wow, he's a lucky guy - hopefully he'll be alright and be safer in the future!  My husband is a mechanic and I worry about this happening to him.

Sussie, Good thing you guys were in the area to save his bacon.  Car work is something that has been left to the pros for me other than really simple things that don't involve me being UNDER the vehicle on jacks.

Pacita and everyone: Yes his mom took him to the hospital. I think he was scared and embarrassed, and that is why he didn't go to the hospital. But his mom and I met eye to eye on that issue. I was worried for his back. I know he got a good bruising but hopefully it did not fracture any of his ribs.

OMG, what a scary story, Sussie! How awful...I really hope that he is okay after that terrible accident. This is a good reminder to use the proper equipment and use it properly.
