Goodwill Super Store - New Life for Crofton Library Site

Crofton Goodwill StoreHave you noticed the new Goodwill Store at the former location of Crofton Library, in Crofton Centre?

A sign outside the store reads, “Come in and check us out. You won't believe what you can find! We're not your Grandmother's GOODWILL.”

You'll still find donated items such as clothing, baby equipment, and home furnishing for sale, but the items are showcased with a flair that's new and fresh.

Store manager Rob Rannebreger told Crofton Patch the community has been very generous with donations since the store opened last month, both in quantity and quality.  During my recent tour of the store, I even saw clothing with original price tags still attached from stores such as Ann Taylor, Macy's and Kids R Us.

This is the perfect place for grandparents to pick up a Pack-n-Play or toys to have on hand when the family comes to visit, or perhaps you can find some picnic-ware for your next backyard cookout. If you have a house full of growing kids, it makes sense to check out their clothing before you head to the mall.

Donations may be dropped off at the back of the Crofton Goodwill Store, located at 1657 Crofton Centre, Crofton, MD. Don't forget to wait for a dated receipt to attach to your itemized list of donations; you'll need it to claim your deduction at tax time next year.

P.S. Don't wait 'til you're getting ready to move to clean out those over-stuffed closets... with this new Goodwill Super Store so close for donating those outdated items, you have no more excuses.

I have found our Goodwill to be too picky as to what they accept so we are bringing our things to Salvation Army. I wouldn't try to donate dirty or trash, but I get offended with what Goodwill turns down.

I frequently drop off and buy at Goodwill in my town. LOVE IT! I think I buy all my jeans there. I am not the garage sale giver type of person. I would rather take the write off. HA! But then I just go back and buy more at the same place. Perfect recylcling! HA.. Thanks so much Margaret for your subscription! I really value and appreciate my readers! THanks again!

Sally and David - Those receipts are really important.

Virginia - That's how they are with things at the Annapolis Goodwill Store.  I'm downright offended at the quality stuff they throw away, right in front of me.  It's not like the guys in receiving have any clue regarding the value of things they toss.

Sheila - It sure is handy, and a good use for that space.

Tammy - When my kids were growing up, dropped off a bunch of outgrown clothes and ended up going home with a brass bed.  LOL

Margaret - As one who believes we need to recycle good will stores are one of my favourite shops to visit when we are in a new area for a any period of time.

Kathy - Crofton is generally an upper middle class area, where one doesn't expect residents to shop Goodwill - but what a great location for collecting quality donations.

Margaret: Thanks for your response.  I guess I need to find a goodwill that appreciates what people are trying to donate.

I did find that one of our city homeless mission also has a boutique type area in their store so I was able to donate some mother of the groom dresses and cocktail party dresses there.
