There are plenty of events to pick from and there is something for everyone. The entertaining weekend kicks off on Friday, July 1st and runs through Monday, July 4th. 4th of Zoo-ly at the Phoenix Zoo

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: Phoenix Zoo

Price: $40 (13 yrs. & up), $35.00 (3-12 yrs.), kids 2 and younger are free

Parking: Free

Event Features: Ticket price includes a catered BBQ dinner, carousel rides, face painters, bounce houses, special animal guests, music, and VIP seating for the Tempe Town Lake Fireworks show that starts at 9:00 p.m. Beer and wine are available for purchase.

Anthem’s Independence Day Celebration

Date and Time: Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: Anthem Community Park Ball Fields

Price: Free

Parking: Free, but residents are encouraged to walk as the area will quickly get congested.

Event Features: You can purchase a $10 wristband for water Slides and inflatable rides. They will have other family fun activities, as well as live music. Food and beverages are available for purchase, including drinks at their beer garden. The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Arizona Celebration of Freedom in Mesa

Date and Time: July 1st and 2nd from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: Downtown Mesa

Price: Free

Parking: Free available spots throughout the downtown area.

Event Features: This is a two-day celebration that starts on Friday with motorcycles, music and family fun. Saturday’s event  includes a car show and the fireworks show, as well as music and family fun. As you make your way around downtown, you will find historic displays, patriotic storytelling, memorials, arts and crafts, food and beverage booths, as well as a beer garden.

CBS 5 July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 at 4 p.m.

Location: Tempe Beach Park

Price: Advance tickets are $6, at the gate they are $8 (children 12 and under are free as well as current military with picture ID)

Parking: Use of the city bus and METRO Light Rails are highly encouraged as parking areas will be limited due to event street closures.

Event Features: Live music, kids entertainment, family friendly activities, and fireworks choreographed to music that will start at approximately 9:10 p.m. Food, non-alcoholic beverages and beer are available for purchase. No food or coolers are allowed, but you may bring in 1 gallon/person sealed water, chairs and blankets.

Chandler’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Location: Tumbleweed Park

Price: Free

Parking: $5 per vehicle

Event Features: Live music, kids carnival, bike parade (starts at 6:00 p.m., best decorated bike wins a Harro Children’s bike), 35-foot water slide and water games. The fireworks start at approximately 9:30 p.m. Food and beverages are available for purchase. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed in event, but you may bring in chairs, blankets, and coolers w/ food and non-alcoholic beverages.

City of Surprise’s 4th of July Celebration

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011, gates open at 4:30

Location: Surprise Stadium/Surprise Recreation Campus

Price: Tickets are free for the first 10,000 fans, but are required to enter into the stadium. You can pick up tickets at the Surprise Community & Recreation Services Office Mon. through Thurs. from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Parking: Free

Event Features: There will be a rookie league baseball game (LA Angels vs. Texas Rangers) starting at 5:30 p.m. The fireworks show will start immediately after the game, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Freedom Wireless Fabulous Phoenix Fourth

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: Steele Indian School Park

Price: Free

Parking: Limited amount of free parking, so use of Metro Light Rail and city bussing is highly encouraged.

Event Features: There will be a kids zone, live music and an F-16 flyover with 3 stages of entertainment and over 50 booths. Vendors will be selling food and beverages. This event is alcohol free. You may bring in chairs, blankets and coolers with food and non-alcoholic beverages. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

Gilbert’s Fire in the Sky

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Main fireworks will be launched at Central Christian Church. There will be two off-site viewing locations, as well, at Campo Verde High School and Gilbert Soccer Complex.

Price: Admission is free, but the town is asking for donations of nonperishable food, which will be collected at all sites.

Event Features: Vendors will be selling snow cones and water for $1 at the main site, Central Christian Church. The other sites will not have any outside vendors. You are allowed to bring in chairs, blankets, food and drinks, but no alcoholic beverages or consumer fireworks.

Hometown Fireworks Celebration in Apache Junction

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011, daytime events start at 9:00 a.m. and evening events start at 6:00 p.m.

Location: Apache Junction High School/Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center

Price: Varies depending on the event in which you would like to participate

Parking: Free

Event Features: Morning celebrations include a Co-Ed Water Volleyball Tournament at 9:00 a.m. and public swimming from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Evening events include patriotic bike decorating, live entertainment, a kids zone, game booths. The fireworks start at 9:00 p.m.

Independence Day Music Festival Starring Blake Shelton

Date and Time: Sunday, July 3, 2011, gates open at 5:00 p.m., live music starts at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks will start immediately after concerts end.

Location: Salt River Fields at Talking Stick

Price: Tickets start at $15

Parking: $5

Event Features: This music festival features country music recording artist Blake Shelton as well as two American Idol alums, who will be opening for Shelton, Casey James and Crystal Bowersox. There will be a fireworks show immediately following the concert, which is being billed as the largest fireworks show in the Valley.

Light Up the Sky in Maryvale

Date and Time: Friday, July 1, 2011, events outside the stadium start at 6:30 p.m. and the stadium opens at 7:00 p.m.

Locations: Maryvale Baseball Park

Parking: Free

Event Features: Family fun festivities including inflatable rides, activities, games, music and entertainment. Food and beverages are available to purchase inside the stadium. This event is alcohol free. You can bring a sealed bottle of water into the stadium per person. Fireworks start at 9:10 p.m.

Peoria’s 4th of July All-American Festival

Date and Time: Monday, July 4, 2011 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Location: Peoria Sports Complex (located in the main stadium and Mariners practice fields)

Parking: Free

Event Features: Kid Zone, Water Zone, F-16 Flyover at approximately 7:00 p.m., hot dog eating contest, family friendly activities, music, and the fireworks start at approximately 9:15 p.m. Beer and concessions are available for purchase. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed in the event, but you may bring in chairs, blankets, and coolers with food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Red, White & Boom Celebration in Ahwatukee
