It's raining men... or QR codes...

It's raining men... I mean QR codes...

When I saw the Active Rain post challenging the use of QR codes in real estate I knew I had to speak up. QR codes are a no brainer to me.  How can something that is free to create and can be used in so many aspects of your business be bad?

I have heard the arguments from agents that many people in their area  don't know what they are.  That is fine, and I will still continue to use other forms of getting myself and our listings out there... but for the cost of $0 it's another way to promote myself and my business.

The image below contains some of my creative uses of QR codes
QR codes

I have them on my business cards (first pic), as stickers on each of our listings where people can get more information on the propery, and even on a t-shit (granted this is more for curiosity factor then function.. though if I hold really ... really... still... it does work to lead you to my website.  It's more for the "what's that thing I keep seeing everywhere" factor :)

Pretty unique places to have them out there!  Very cool indeed!

I love the layout.  I was wondering about the tshirts.... I see them allover the internet.  I hope you'll check out mine; I just posted under the gun. Have a good night.

Christie - I really like the shirt idea.  I'm sure it causes a few people to ask questions and gives you a chance to engage.

I like the shirt idea too. How well does it scan? The wearer will need to stand still for a moment for the scanner to pick up, but it would be great in a grocery store line, etc.

Larry- Thanks!  I will put them anywhere I can.  It's just another (free) tool in the tool belt :)

Cathy-  I love making t-shirts- QR codes or not!  I wear them everywhere.. dog training class, the gym, shopping... it's just another chance for people to talk to me :)

Christine- I think t-shirts in general are a great idea even if they don't have QR codes on them.  I always put my name on them in a 'nametaggy' kind of way so people get the idea that the name on the shirt is me and I'm a agent.  I think if I didn't personalize them, people might think it was just a giveaway shirt I got from somewhere.  I have a bunch more in the works :)

Thats kind of cool, I admit I know NOTHING about QR other than reading about them here in the rain and still dont quite get them. What do they actually do that makes them so good?

Gerard- It is tough to scan.  You do need to stand still and it isn't an accident it is on the back not the front ;)  The t-shirt idea to me is more to have people come up and say... "What the heck is that thing... I've started seeing them places!"   can segue from there :)

Great ideas!  I haven't started using the QR codes yet, but I agree with you, it's free so why not? Nice post.  Thanks.  Have a wonderful weekend!!

I guess it could be difficult to scan on the move and I can certainly understand why you need to go on the back.  A great idea.

Cindy- Thanks for stopping by. Give QR codes a chance.  I can't guarantee they will catch on but as we've said, it's free so why not!

Doug- it is hard to scan unless I hold very.very.still but the theory is that it will get the QR code out there and my name as well :) And yes.... I think the back of the shirt is safest!!!

I want mine on a shirt. We've put listings on shirts before- people love to talk to us about them.

Christie, the back of the t-shirt is a very creative idea! It definitely does get people to start talking to you.

Leslie & Trang - I wear that shirt everywhere too!  The gym, dog training class, parties. It's great for places where wearing my name tag would seem too formal!
