Low Real Estate Prices - The Ten Cities With The Lowest Priced Homes In The United States

Reis - Which claims to be, "Your Window To the Real Estate Market", at least from no only an investor's viewpoint, but a renter's point of view and a typical buyer's point of vie as well, recently ranked the 10 cities where it's almost as cheap to buy as it is to rent. (Reis made the calculations using its own second-quarter rent data and second-quarter home value data from Zillow.com.)   Well, then all of my Zillow friendly clients should take this to heart.    The following list is where real estate can be purchased for the lowest prices.   In order beginning with Detroit, Michigan having the lowest home prices in the Nation!

1.  Detroit, MI
2.  Pttsburgh, PA
3.  Rochester, N.Y.
4.  Memphis, Tenn
5.  Tampa, Fla.
6.  Cleveland, Tenn.
7.  Columbia, S.C.
8.  Dallas, TX
9.  Las Vegas, NV
10.Providence, R.I.

Amazing that this home can be purchased for only $39,000 in Detroit, Michigan....and I thought prices were low in Riverside County, California but not this low!

And this one in Pittsburgh, PA says it can be purchased for only $36,000 but then the Zestimate says $93,700, so I'm not sure what's up with that?

We must've been #11 down in Swampland, LA where you can get beautiful waterfront/waterview homes for a modest price.

Jane - It appears that anyone can afford to buy a home in Detroit, Michigan. In Southern California, we can't find such prices.

Jane - Yes from one extreme to the next. What I wouldn't give to have a craftsman or a bric home built in the early century. Now that I have had newer home I could pack up and live in Detroit and get a character home. This home would be about $650,000 or more in So Cal.

Jane--I have been trying to sell my mother's house for eight months at $33,500. (Started at $44,900)  At low price we are looking for cash buyer as lenders don't want the small mortgage.

Mike:  Either that or you are Minus or negative 1.

John:  Maybe in Mecca, 75 miles away from civilization, freeways, etc...and HOT!

Lance:  But there are no jobs in these areas, there is a reason that the home prices are so low.

Ken:  But you would not have the nice sunny weather or close proximity to the ocean, and surrounding areas that have so much to offer.

Mary:  Are there few jobs there?
