Never Buy A Used Alligator From Craigslist

I tend to see life from a humorous point of view, and I am convinced that you don't need to make things up because life is just funny.  There are so many comical things that happen throughout the week that I rarely need to go looking for something to chuckle about.

Today, a headline in the local paper read, "Alligator listing gets man arrested."  Apparently, it is a crime to post and sell your used alligator on Craigslist.  Where would you sell your used alligator?  Yard sale?
Flee market?  Reptiles-R-Us?  The alleged alligator perpetrator sold the aforementioned reptile to an undercover agent for the whopping sum of $200.  Who would you have to tick off to become an undercover agent buying used alligators from Craigslist?

The seller should have been suspicious of the buyer right up front because the buyer didn't try to haggle.  Of course, the ad did offer the alleged alligator for $200.  If the ad had said, "$200 or Best Offer" the seller would have expected the buyer to offer $150-$160.  But, the potential new briefcase owner offered full price.  That was a red flag!

What's a used alligator worth now-a-days.  The crime would have been a misdemeaner if the buyer only paid $199.99.  So, if you're ever tempted to sell your used alligator, ostrerich, zebra, llama, shark, lion, koala bear, or any other such creature on Craigslist, start at $199.99.  And, beware of buyers who don't haggle.

Mike - Thanks for the warning. Next time I am shopping for a used alligator on Craigs List, I will be really cautious.  :)

I think so, Mike.  Of course, you might price it below $200.  I do hear they make nice ear muffs.

Thanks for dropping by, Patricia.

I think the alligator is the only one who kept his freedom in this reptilian tale.

Well, everybody knows that the only way to get rid of a pet alligator is to flush it down the toilet, and take the loss. Everybody has heard stories of albino alligators roaming the sewers of NYC. They got there by being flushed down the toilets by parents of those children that came back from winter vacations in south FL with those baby alligators hidden in their luggage. Of course that was before the TSA people got involved. I guess now they would need to be brought back in their father's golf bags.

Ed, I've heard those stories.  Never knew if they were true or just out there to keep the rest of us from roaming the sewers.  Thanks for stopping by!

There are moments in life when it just seems crazy....today I read about a guy who burned his house down because he was trying to cremate his dog.  Excellent to look at life for the funny stories.

Hey Mike, love the humor.

I've sold some items on Craigslist, including cars. What you said about those willing to pay full price rang true. There are scammers out there that offer full price from out of town, blah, blah, blah. Readers need to be aware of these cons.

I have to wonder what the poor alligator did that his owner didn't want him any more.

Navona, I think that tops the alligator story.  Wow!

Thanks, Mimi.  I'm still in the process with the background, but that's at least a temporary option.  Still working on it.  Thanks for dropping in.

For sure, Tom.  Thanks for stopping by!!

He ate the cat, Susan.  Just kidding.  I don't think the article said, but now I'm curious.  I'll have to go back at take a second look.
