Unfair Share?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with West Group Real Estate

I read in a marketing book a while back a phrase about getting your "UNFAIR SHARE" of the market. I have used this to explain how I was doing in our down market and had a conversation with an Architect friend, this is something how it went:

Q: How is your brokerage doing?

A: We are getting our unfair share. I am thankful for opportunities that have come our way.

Architect: Unfair share sounds somewhat negative, I see how hard you have been working. That is like saying you are getting your "unfair" share of the sunlight because you crawled out of the cave and stood in the sun.

Me: I think I will stop using the term. I have never thought of it in a negative light, I was just doing the math. Take 200 real estate professionals plus and cows the market share evenly and I could never provide for my family.

Of course it is important to remember that not everyone will perceive what you say as you intend it to be. Never more so with the internet, email and texting. I am trying to be more clear with my communications and less critical of others. I have also made it a point not to read into something more than what is stated.

Luck = Hard work + persistence!!

You could never get your "unfair share" if you didn't work hard and persevere.  There was a time you could, but not anymore.  Love your website, by the way.

HI HARLEY!  The harder we work - the luckier we get too! It takes effort as well to not make assumptions about something you read, write or text -- in this world of one-sided conversations - it happens more than not!

Thank you Ladies for the kind words. Margaret, thanks for taking the time to look at our website. We are actually transitioning to a new one at www.tetonpropertysearch.com, I am liking the new one much better.

Gabrielle, I envy you in the winter when it is butt deep in snow and below freezing up here on the Idaho Wyoming state line. My Arizona home state is quite warm this summer and we are enjoying 40s at night and 70s-80s in mid afternoon up here now.

I want to be a snow bird.

My oldest daughter took the picture of the cattle when we were on a balloon ride some 8 or so years ago. I thought the blog needed color?
