My thinking is more and more random these days. I like being able to get something off my chest without having to feel like a full blog post is necessary but I seem to need more than 140 characters. Besides, very few people listen to my ramblings on Twitter. I'm just not that interesting I have decided.
We have a great interview tomorrow at ActiveRain University with Chad from IMSD. He will be talking to Laurie Weston Davis and Lisa Archer, the Geeky Girls. What makes them so geeky you might ask? They're using video to generate leads for their business. Are you scared to get in front of the camera? I bet they have some ideas of how you can stay out of the flashing lights of video and still utilize video to help market your business. You can join them at 9am PST (that's noon on the East Coast for the time challenged) on ActiveRain University. if you enjoyed the '37 Ways Not to Suck at Real Estate' Webinar we had last week, you'll enjoy what we have in store tomorrow.
I miss my son terribly being way out here in Michigan but my monthly trips home are something I look forward to always. In fact, I'm heading back to Seattle tomorrow for my week with my son. We'll try to get in a baseball game, lots of fishing and just some good quality daddy-son time. The boy is obsessed with Star Wars so I'm sure there is a light saber battle or two in my near future.......may the force be with me.
Our tailgate for the Michigan - Notre Dame game continues to grow by the day. My parents are coming in for the game and my step dad is bringing some fresh salmon that he caught in Alaska. He's a commercial fisherman. We have over 50 people that will be joining us, some going to the game itself, some just coming to enjoy the spectacle. Please, for all that is good, let Michigan win. You have no idea what it's like dealing with my wife after a Michigan loss (although in the last three years I've gotten lots of practice).
Do you have your past clients set up in a list on Facebook so that you can easily check in on them to see if they remember you the next time they have a friend needing a real estate agent? I still believe that the best use of Facebook for a real estate agent is it allows you to make sure your past clients don't forget you. Here is a video showing you how to create a list so that you can easily keep up with your past clients. Facebook lists allow you to cut through the noise on Facebook and just see updates from a focused group of people.
How do some people get so disagreeable? You know the type, right? No matter what you say they will take an opposing view point and then make snide comments about your point of view. We could probably get their heads to explode if we sent them here. ActiveRain is much more subtle than the internet at large. If you disagree, awesome! Our community loves a good debate. If you're an ass when you do it, don't be surprised if you end up talking to yourself a lot around here. (of course, the problem is disagreeable people seldom know this about themselves)
Are you Ready For Some Football? I can hardly wait! I'll probably even watch some of the first NFL preseason game on Thursday just to quench my thirst. Basketball on the other hand.......I could care less if they ever play another NBA game in Oklahoma City! (or anywhere........I'm still very bitter, I'll probably never get over it)
Nikesh is doing a great job as CEO at ActiveRain. I'm particularly impressed with how willing he is to listen to what our existing team (meaning those of us that were here before he got here) thinks about the company and the community. There is a lot of opportunity for improvement at ActiveRain and he has done an outstanding job at making sure we are all focused on executing for our members.
How many hours a day do you spend ON your business? Not IN your business, but ON your business (you know the difference right?)? What's your excuse for spending less than 3 hours today ON your business? Luckily if you can nail down that excuse, you will have that same excuse to thank when things slow down for you later in the year. There will be no guessing........
Of all the people I've never met in real life, Sally Cheeseman ranks right up near the top of the list of my favorites. She goes out of her way to send my little boy a birthday and Christmas present every year and there is always a little treat for Christa and me. I'm so excited for her that she has her own grandchild on the way! That little child is lucky to have Grandma Sally! She's been a great influence on the community over the years and her Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul group on ActiveRain is always a breath of fresh air! Sally, I can't wait to meet you soon! (of course, I'd be just as excited to meet you if you lived in Iowa as I am being you live in Hawaii.....I swear!)
