Green Monster Logo"Green Monster e-Cycling is committed to providing an environmentally responsible e-waste solution for you".  This is the mission statement of "Green Monster e-Cycling", one of Connecticut’s first electronic recycling facilities.  Founded in 2007,Green Monster had modest beginnings, working out of a garage in West Hartford.  The facility headquarters is now housed in a 20,000 SF processing center, and services everyone from home users to Fortune 500 companies.  Conveniently located at 150 Brook Street in West Hartford, Green Monster accepts "anything with a cord or battery", including:

Some answers to frequently asked questions:

Q: When can I drop off my e-waste at Green Monster e-Cycling?
A: During normal business hours, currently Monday through Friday -  7:30am until 3:30pm And Saturdays 8:00am until 12:00pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Q: How do I know if Green Monster will accept my stuff?
A: We accept any items that have to do with electronics. If you can plug it in or it runs on battery
(or IS a battery), we will accept it.

Q: What is free to recycle?
A: Anything with a cord or batteries, Including televisions!

Q: Will my hard drive data be destroyed?
A: Yes, GME offers Free Guaranteed Data Destruction at the Drop-Off center.

Q: How is the data on my hard drive destroyed?
A: Each hard drive is punched out and shredded.

 Q: Are my electronics that I drop off getting sent to China or developing countries?
A: NO, electronics are processed in West Hartford at the GME Recycling Facility and with approved down stream vendors.

Q: Does GME put any electronic waste in the landfills?
A: No, GME has a strict Zero Landfill policy.

Q: Is there any limit to how much e-waste I can drop off?Green Monster - Mayor Scott Slifka
A: NO, you can drop off one piece or even a thousand pieces.

Q: Is GME for West Hartford residents only?
A: No, anybody from anywhere can use the free drop-off center.

Q: Is swapping electronic items allowed?
A: No.

Q: Does GME offer Guaranteed Data Destruction for business?
A: Absolutely, however, it is a pay service. Please inquire within for business data destruction.

Q: What are acceptable forms of payment?
A: We accept CASH or CHECK.

Q: Will you destroy my hard drive in front of me?
A: Yes, however, due to time constraints, there is a $20 fee.

Each year Green Monster has been able to at minimum triple the amount of electronics recycled, preventing toxins from making their way into our environment, as well as putting precious resources back in to use for newly manufactured products.  So whether you are clearing clutter from your home to get ready to sell, or getting rid of leftovers from your tag sale, Green Monster is ready to help dispose of your electronics in an environmentally friendly way!
