Mayor Bloomberg, You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourself!

I am disgusted, appalled, disappointed, and most of all, angry at you Mayor Bloomberg!

Mayor Bloomberg is not inviting the first responder's to the upcoming ceremony on 9/11/2011. Why you ask? Space constraints. The families of the victims will and should be there. But, two Presidents and many other politicians will be there. Why should they be? Once again a 9/11 memorial is being used as a political photo-op arena which is self-serving. The first responders risked their lives to help others and many died as well. Where were all the politicians then?

Many of the first responders have even fallen sick since then. A lot of them are fighting for their lives and now not invited to this years memorial service? That is appalling.

Mind you, first responders were never invited to other memorial services. They have just shown up in the past. But, this is the 10th Anniversary of 9-11. An exception in this case won't be made? Are you saying they will be turned away if they just show up?

I hope they all show up!

Todays politicians are just plain disgusting. It's not government of the people for the people anymore.

Jackie, I can't agree more! So many people are still suffering from 9/11 and how dare they stop them from attending the tribute that helps heals some of their wounds? God bless them all!

Between that and the preemptive panic over the hurricane, Bloomberg is not winning any fans.  What's up with this guy?

Jackie-the first responders should be there before any of the politicians.  Bloomberg isn't winning any points in my book.

This is just plain wrong.  Bloomberg is a jerk for inviting other politicians, and the ones accepting the invites at the expense of excluding the first responders are also not winning points.  You ought to publish the list  of attendees.

Hi Kathleen, I agree!

Hi Daniel, no it's not and it is sad!

Hi Ellen, God Bless them for sure! This is just not right!

Hi Chris Ann, good question. I used to like him. Especially since he doesn't take a salary!

Hi Michele, thank you and you too!

Hi Cindy, you are right and he's not winning points from anyone by all means.

Hi Anne, I wish I could publish the attendees. The thing is neither is the Mayor's office. Funny huh?

This is politics that I fervently hope will BACKFIRE on the idiots.

It's not about them, as much as they want it to be. It's about the people who risked their lives to save the survivors, and who removed the bodies of the dead. It's about the families who lost loved ones and the friends who lost friends.

And, it's about our country. The more I read and listen, the more I think the politicians are all a bunch of self-serving slobs - not working to protect the country, but working instead to make sure they retire with fat bank accounts and endless opportunities to earn more as speakers, authors, etc.

One more thing - I've heard that they ALSO are not allowing members of the clergy to speak.

Perhaps they'll invite some Muslim terrorists as honored guests.

Hey Jackie - I saw the reblog by Chris Ann and came over to comment.  This was handled very badly and I'm sure the political backlash will last a long time.  To use the ceremony as a political posturing event is criminal.

Hi Marte, yes they are not allowing members of the clergy to speak or even invited. Makes your stomach turn doesn't it?

Hi Bryan, There is no reason to invite a lot of politicians. Those seats should be saved for the ones that helped. The families of the victims of course should be there.

Jackie, I know politicians can be short sighted as well as the rest of us on occasion, but not allowing first responders their rightful place at this ceremony seems terribly wrong...who comes up with this stuff...do they even think about what they are doing??
