Garden City, New York - Advice for Students Attending New Schools

By
Real Estate Appraiser with David V. Farrell Co.

I think I am a little late on this suggestion, but I have 3 kids in the public school.  This year, my older kids took my youngest on a bicycle ride to his school to show him his classroom and to have him accustomed to what he'd see the first day.  Yes, he's in 3rd grade now and can make his way on his own.  But, it was nice to have his sisters showing him the school they went to (and did his parents and two grandparents).

Now, he now where to go when he walks in the building for the first time this year.  He knows what the room looks like, and he'll have fewer surprises.  Keeping kids happy, mellow, clear-headed and without fear gets easier as our children get older.  But, it's important to help out when our kids are young.

So, while the weekend is upon us, we'll be finishing off our school supply list, and reviewing the school calendar - see if there is a time when the doors to your child's school will be open before Tuesday's mad rush.  It might make the difference between a good start and a great start.

Have a wonderful school year.

David

HI David, thank you for your comments on my 9/11 post...to me it was surreal, like it was happening, but wasn't happening at the same time, having to watch it on TV and contend with our own aircraft in the air at the same time.  Today was so nice here in Texas, it reminded me of that day and how clear it was and how people all over described how beautiful a day it started out....

Hi David,

Thanks for visiting my blog and sharing your stories. I came to check yours out, found this post, thought it was really sweet, got interrupted and then had a heck of a time finding it again. I have no idea how I happened on it so quickly the first time around.

Anyway, you must be so proud of your kids helping the little one. You've obviously taught them to empathize and watch out for each other! What a great start for him.
