ASteve's photo series of events are scheduled throughout the week at The University of Maryland in College Park to commemorate 9/11/2001, including a blood drive organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.  This blood drive is part of a nationwide campaign to honor the vicitims of 9/11 and spread the message that Islam emphasizes the sanctity of life.

The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, in the Grand Ballroom at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union on campus.

Other scheduled events at the University include a 4-part web series, a concert, and a walk of remembrance.

This photo was taken on 9/11 from Hoboken, where my son and his wife lived.  He was sitting on his rooftop deck enjoying a cup of coffee when he saw the low-flying plane go into the first tower.  His wife had flown out a short while earlier and his fear, of course, was that his wife was on the plane. Then, Steve and I were on the phone together as he watched the second plane hit. Fortunately, Sharon was not on one of those flights, but she had flown out of Newark that morning on a business trip to Florida in the same timeframe that hi-jacked United Flight 93 departed Newark.

Our town being close to NYC and the train station, lost a lot of people n 9/11. Six months ago we acquired a piece of the towers and built a memorial for the victims of 9/11 - it a nice reminder that we have't forgot all the Innocent people who were killed that day. I plan of taking pictures and sharing them in the Rain that day. A blood drive is such a worthy cause and great way to show our support! Hope you have a big turnout!
