Blinded By Passionate Illogic

Are you blinded by passionate illogic?

Do you know some one that is?

Do you get distracted by passionate topics?

Do you abandon logic for passion?

Do you distract others by appealing to their passions?

Do others manipulate and distract you by appealing to your passions?

Are you blinded by passionate illogic?

I think I’m a highly passionate person.

Brenda and our kids are the only thing I’m more passionate about than logic!

It is entirely possible to be both passionate and logical. It may even be normal for most people, but it is not the most evident!

Hate and love are the two biggest passions and they can displace logic if we’re not careful. Just look at politics and the divorce rate to see what happens to otherwise normal people that allow their passions to displace logic rather than expound and expand upon it!

Do others manipulate and distract you by appealing to your passions?

It’s common in life, it’s common in real estate!

As kids we learned that there were subjects that our parents were so passionate about that if we could bring it up they’d forget about what we did.

In high school I had at least three teachers that we could manipulate by asking an irrelevant question about their favorite subject, we put off a lot of tests getting an extra day to study that way. We’ve all manipulated the same way!

In the beginning of AR there was a lot of baiting Brian Brady and me here on AR, our friends bring up our differences involving "Fiduciary!"

I’m on a committee that keeps getting misled and distracted by a man passionately making minor problems seem more important at the moment than they are, letting the greatest danger continue for another day!

It happens here in the Rain! I just finished reading another blog from a certain agent who’s passion displaces logic more often than not complaining about the due diligent’s of others.

Are you blinded by passionate illogic? Do you keep your eye on the goal? Or do you easily get distracted?

Are you methodical? Or do you spend your days chaotically putting out small fires while your life burns down?

In real estate we get manipulated by clients making excuses for not getting pre-qualified/pre-approved or not signing the Agency agreement!

In lending it delays getting tax returns, paychecks, tax returns and employers addresses.

We let ourselves be manipulated, we let showings come before we have a client! We issue a worthless pre-qual based on the clients word or presumptions.

We let ourselves be manipulated and they buy from their second cousins’ wife’s son, just like they intended. Or we prepare an offer that can never close!

Bill: One of my biggest weaknesses is that I am too logical and often do not have patience for people who waiver too much. (Did I spell waiver correctly?)

Melissa,

I'm shocked! I though you knew me to well to ask me about spelling.

Except for my family logic is my biggest passion! I don't tolerate the wishy washy, not to be confused with ignorance witch is curable or stupidity which is not!

Bill being distracted is a problem for many people.  Hopefully as we gain experience and mature in years, we learn to control some of those distracts in stead of them controlling us.

Dear Bill -

Long posts often give us insights into other AR members and their thoughts. Logic is clearly an interest of yours!

Have a happy day -

My logic just drives my wife nuts. I know people that make anything a reason to buy or do something. I analyze it and then make the decisions (not ALWAYS, but most of the time).

I just don't understand people that spend/do or whatever when a little logic would stop them from getting in over their heads.

Lynn,

Long?

I try to keep things brief, like Tolstoy.

Than,

Brenda and I meet 41 years ago this month, we decided to get married later that day. It took us six months before we could get the families together.

After 41 years she's use to me and supports all my follies.
