"The 3 Powerful "P's" of Conversational Blogging" - Blog Tips for Rain Drips

By

Okay, so you're sitting there, late at night, staring at your computer screen with that blank, zombie-like expression, wondering "What in the World am I going to write about?

Well, don't get discouraged, Sports Fans. We've all made that incredibly scary first jump into the great expanse known as the Blogosphere. You're probably feeling pretty vulnerable about now, aren't ya? I mean, you're putting yourself out there, for all to see! What if they don't like me? What if I don't get any comments? Will they laugh at me? Will someone flag my post for Stupidity? (thank goodness that isn't a category for flagging!)

Allow me, if I may, to give you some really simple and basic tips on how to make your blogging experience more enjoyable, effective, and stress-free!

                                                  ~     o     ~    o    ~    o    ~    o    ~    o    ~    o    ~

Today's Blog Tip for Rain Drips is entitled:

The 3 Powerful P's of Conversational Blogging

As you stroll along the beach, feeling the sand squish between your toes, do you realize that no two grains of sand are the same? Or when you're enjoying an awesome downhill run through freshly fallen powder, that no two snowflakes are alike? The real beauty of converdational blogging is that each of us can convey/communicate our uniqueness through our writing.

There is only one YOU. You are unique! (and obviously, as you read through many of the posts here on ActiveRain, you'll find that some of our members are just a bit MORE unique than the others!) You don't have to be the next Ernest Hemingway to author a successful blog. You just have to be YOURSELF!

While there is certainly much more involved in writing a good, quality blog article, I've found that most of the advice floating around can be best summarized or condensed into three primary components:

Your Unique Personality

You have your own distinct personality and it needs to have its expression through what you write. Consumers don't want to be inundated with endless, impersonal ramblings. They want to gain a sense of who you are behind your words. Two of my favorite examples of Personality Posters here on ActiveRain are Sarah Cooper and Chris Elizabeth Griffith. When you read the articles written by these two accomplished bloggers, you definitely come away with an insight into their unique personalities.

Your Unique Perspective

We all strive to be the very best at what we do. We consider ourselves to be dedicated professionals, constantly striving to master our chosen specialty/discipline. As such, our knowledge and expertise serves to form our opinions, viewpoints, and perspectives. Consumers want us to communicate what we know, what we've experienced, in ways that are of practical benefit to them. It doesn't mean that we come off as condescending 'Know-it-alls,' but that we freely share from the wealth of our experiences and expertise. Two prominent ActiveRain bloggers that come to mind are Lenn Harley and Broker Bryant. Both of these members are seasoned veterans of real estate. They KNOW what they're talking about, and they communicate their unique perspectives very effectively.

Your Unique Passions

Real Estate professionals are some of the most passionate people I've met! They're passionate about their work; they're passionate about helping people; they're passionate about life! Your passions are both professional and personal. Anyone who has read my blogs, both here on ActiveRain, and at SOUNDBITEBLOG, knows that I love to go crabbing out on Hood Canal and eat sushi. What floats your boat? What excites you? Passions are contagious and attract kindred spirits!

So there ya have it! When you write, allow your unique personality, perspectives, and passions to shine through your words. Your audience will find value and enjoyment in what you share!

Rich...I agree with personality coming through in your blogs! Without it, it's like reading a really boring newspaper. Nice tips for rookies and veterans!

Hi Rich,

I liked that toward the end "Passions are contagious and attract kindred spirits" that is true if one has a passion they are more likly to attract people that can relate to you a bit more.

It's perfectly possible to pen prose, poems and preambles primarily punctuated with p's.... Perhaps!  I'll ponder it, and practice presenting perspective on my passionate personality.

Rich, I think I could learn to include a little more of all three P's in my posts.  I have mostly just presented information in the past, but I think the three P's are important in allowing people to get to know you on a more personal level.

I love the "3 P's" approach, a great way to sum it all up. Hopefully we will remember this at 3am when we're trying to get that blog post finished. :-} Thanks for putting it into Perspective....
