Did you meet Rich? Hope that you had the chance...

Rich Riding

Today we had the privilege of meeting Rich. Rich is a truly remarkable man who is merely passing through.

It seems that Elk River has had it's fair amount of 'traveler's' this season. All with messages worth hearing.

Anyways, if you had the opportunity of meeting Rich you'd be quite inspired by his story. It was filled with hope and strength.

You see, Rich has no mobility in his legs. He suffered an injury falling off his roof many years ago. He recently had a 'big' birthday and decided to make a journey most of us would be truly exhausted by.

Starting in Itasca at the headwaters of the Mississippi, Rich is following the river to the very end. Eight weeks riding his modified bike to spread a message of hope.

Along with his dog and his wife he is traveling between 30 and 50 miles a day using his arms to pedal along. If you have a chance to read his blog... it's worth the read.

The children that heard his story today were enthralled and inspired. Quietly and enthusiastically listening and asking questions these children were blessed by his story of strength and perseverance.

In a world that is suffering in so many ways his story is a bright light. It's a message that pushes one forward and makes you want to excel and grow. He shows what a little commitment mixed with hard work and determination could do for a person.

Maybe down river you can catch him too. If you do please take the time to honk and wave! A cheering section always makes the hard stuff easier to handle.

And, if you are looking to purchase a home, let me know. I'll be your cheering section in a process that is sometimes slow and painful.

Hi Lindsey, I'm glad that you had a chance to meet him.  He does sound like an amazing person who is a great example of not being beaten down by the setbacks in life.

Lindsey, That probably was an amazing experience,  How did you find out about him?  Was it advertised?

And, I, too, want to say

Congratulations!

I don't know if I can ever make 1000 blog posts.  But, you make it look so easy.  I love your writing.  Keep up the good work!

Diane - He was a fabulous person to listen too! The kids were so inspired.

Sondra - Exactly that. :)

Thanks Ron - And, yes, a great mentor is what Rich is.

Suzanne - You are making me blush. :) Thank you for enjoying my writing. Sometimes I wonder if it makes any sense to anyone! Rich happened to be at a homeschooling event that we went to or I wouldn't have gotten to see him. It was kind of a 'right place at the right time' kind of deal. Love those moments.
