Drive By Shooting

By
Real Estate Agent with Vernonia Realty 700512026

Drive by shooting….got your attention, didn’t I?  Well, this one didn’t hurt anybody, but it sure made MY day!

This is a small collection of what I get to see on my drive from Fishhawk Lake in the big city of Birkenfeld Oregon (ha!) to the bigger city of Vernonia Oregon where my real estate office is located.

Sweet Home on Hwy 202 Mist Oregon

Mist is located 8 miles from my home on Fishhawk Lake. This was one of my first "shootings".

Right after this home is where Highway 47 goes through Mist and heads into Clatskanie, Oregon.

Tiny Barn on Highway 47

I’ve always thought this little guy looked kinda lonely.

I have friends here and always beep when I drive by.

Noake's Farm

I’ve driven by this place many times in the last eight years and finally stopped to take a few shots—without bullets, of course.Peterson House Built in 1888

Along the road is this sign:The Country Museum Peterson House

I’m sure there is much to learn about this lovely roadside attraction….for another time. (I’ll have to research it). I never see anyone here, and today was no exception.

Here's an old log that looks like it was wrangled up and fought hard before it gave up....Giant Tree Peterson House Country Museum

I found so many treasures…this was behind a fence in the barn.

Old coach Peterson House

There were so many things to “shoot”, but I didn’t want to get caught, so had to keep moving!

I did find this piece of art in the mundane: Equipment Art

Last shooting before heading into Vernonia, where I do real estate at Vernonia Realty.

Gayle - Very catchy title and I always enjoy stopping by to see some great photography of a wonderful area of the country. I am a bit partial since I am a DUCK. Have a great weekend!

Miss Kris, I love it when you have photo envy, that means I did O.K. in your book! Now, I think I used "soften" or one of those effects--I whipped so many of them into shape in quick fashion that it sorta blurs together...(me, not the photos!)

Oh, Sharon--you're quick!! I have an abundance of photos from today, that I will have to use later for another post (what fun I will have, then, too!)

OH, Mona, I feel your pain!  You've done a marvelous job with this, tho.

Gary, I had a blast, but had to watch for traffic, because I had to step out into the road for some of these. I've got more for another couple of historical posts.

Nor~thanks for stopping by and cheers back acha!

Marte~ That last barn is one I've been driving by for YEARS and it's been bugging me to stop and get this shot...the clouds were perfect for photo ops today.

Steve--glad you liked my choices....I had to stop from being overtaken by the copious amounts of photos that I COULD'VE put in here.

Doug--you're a DUCK, huh?  When did you live here?  or go to school here? Don't we have wonderful countryside out here?

Ruby, I love that barn, too!  And the feathery clouds really made this day a good one to go "shooting".

Looks like you are having a lot of fun with Picnik, my friend.  I'm gonna get to that today :)  But the one I really want to know about is the log.  HUH???  It even has shelter?  Couldn't wrap my brain around that all all :)))  Hope your weekend is wonderfully memorable.

I find it so refreshing to come visit with you (especially after a long & hectic week) and proud that you finished the challenge with a bang!  I agree with Mimi that I too need Picnik, it makes your photos really stand out.

I love old museums, have you ever been in that one? I would love to hear what it is like and all about before I head out there.

Good Job Gayle,

Now that you did get the last one complete, remember this. Localism is not a sometimes thing and for sure it doesn't have a deadline when it has to appear. I doubt that there is anything online that would even come close to what you have done for Fishhawk Lake, Birkenfeld or even Vernonia. But what you will likely enjoy is in the weeks and months from now, of going to Google images and seeing your photos in place when you search for Fishhawk Lake.

Mimi--hope you've dived into PicNik by now...the water's fine! And if you don't like it, you can CHANGE it!

Ellie--I know my views of living are so different from yours, but yours are equally as exciting. Glad I could give you a time-out from your hectic world. Come visit ANYTIME!

Tony, these old structures sure give me many opportunities to shoot without having to say "stay still, will ya?"

Todd-I've gotta get inside this one, but I NEVER see anyone around, so am not sure how to go about it.

Alexandra-I was hoping someone would love that. That orange tree (to the right) is my marker for knowing that fall has really arrived.

William~not only will I continue to do my localism posts, but thank you for that pat on the back to keep going. Being a photoblogger who enjoys the passion of it like I do, you can't keep us away from those, huh?  It's so pleasurable to put together. I found out that some people visiting had read my blogpost about Greasy Spoon Rd. and they wanted to make sure they road their mountain bikes on it when they came up to stay nextdoor. (They told my husband all about it!)

Rob~you know that you are ALWAYS WITH ME  when I take these shots!

Steve~once again, you made my day!  thank you and blessings.

Gayle,  These barn pictures are incredible!  I've always thought your pictures were great but you keep managing to surpass the quality of the last set - over and over.

Hi Gayle, thinking the same here, I have been swamped over the past few days with our Heritage Fall Festival over the weekend.  I am burnt like a lobster from Manning the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon all day, although feels much better today.  And new clients, good things......

I thought that said 1688 before I saw your 1888....what a beautiful drive to work each day, how could you get tired of that....not!  That wagon looks like an old hearse...and I wouldn't go walking into that barn in the last picture if I were you....yikes, looks like it is about to fall down.  See you on the flip side.

Michael, thank you for noticing the enormity of that log--MASSIVE. Wasn't sure if the picture (I was shooting very quickly as it was raining) would do it justice.
