Thinking inside the box, literally.

Also refered to as "lumpy" mail, dimensional mail is a type of direct mail piece that takes on any form other than your typical flat piece of mail. Although it comes in many shapes and sizes, all dimensional mail shares one thing in common - it smashes through the clutter of junk mail and practicaly guarantees it will have a 100% open rate. We all love opening packages to see what's inside and almost always pay attention. It's like a little kid under a Christmas tree.

While dimensional mail is pricier, the return on investment far exceeds other direct mail because it creates maximum impact.

One subscriber to our pre foreclosure data actually sends out a fortune cookie to distressed homeowner in a 2x2x2 box. Inside the fortune cookie is a slip that asks the homeowner what's in their home's fortune. "Save your home. Call me". How clever is that?

That's actually beyond my limits of creativity.  I wish I could come up with something like that.

However, your post reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit where Michael Myers ran a fortune cookie factory and he walked around dozens of people putting those tiny pieces of paper into typewriters.  He would yank them out and berate the typist by saying things like, "7, 21, 25, 34 and 42 - what kind of luck numbers are those?  Get out of here you are fired - those are the least lucky numbers I have ever seen - everyone knows 34 is not a lucky number."

It certainly was well past the gold age of Staurday Night Live, but it has always stood out in my mind as one of my favorite skits.
