Why I Went Into Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with West USA Realty Revelation

Many people have asked me why that I decided to go into real estate.  I have a great deal of education compared to most agents that are out there doing business.  I have a Master Degree in Business, a Master Degree in Accounting, and 2 years of law school.  Many people have told me that I have way too much education to be a real estate agent.  The fact is that I might be over educated but that is one area that I feel makes me stand out and gives me an edge over my competition.  I also feel that I use all of my education in conducting business as a real estate agent.  On top of that I am finally in a job that really does not seem like a job to me.  I love being an agent and that is something that I have not been able to say about my job in years.  I left a job where I was completely miserable.

I have always had an interest in real estate and I felt that the Lord was telling me that it was time to make a move.  I was working on the internet doing some other work and I just got something in me that said to look at real estate school.  I thought about it for a while and the feeling kept getting stronger.  Then I decided to go ahead and check real estate schools that were close to me.  I quickly found one that was not very expensive and that had hours where I could go to the school and keep working my full time job.  While I was going through the school I was still not certain that I wanted to be an agent.  I wanted to get the information and that was my motivation for going.  I wanted to learn.  After finishing the school I decided to go ahead and get my license.  I had also decided that I wanted to at least hang my license with a broker so that it would be active.  I interviewed a couple of brokers and got the feeling on the second interview that it was the right place for me.  I came to this decision almost before I even interviewed with the broker.  It was just a feeling that I got when I walked in.  It was like I just knew.  I then interviewed with the broker and they offered me a compensation package that I could agree too.  The only thing left was to pass the state test.  I then went to take the test and passed it on my very first attempt.

There were just too many coincidences for me to ignore them.  It was like I knew what that I was supposed to do and I knew where the Lord was leading me to go.  Shortly after joining the brokerage I had a few things happen to tell me that it was time to quit my job that I had at the time.  One thing is that I sold a rental property so I had my first commission check.  Granted it was not much but it was a commission check.  Another is that I had to give up a client that wanted me to show them a property at a time when I had to be at the other job.  A third thing was that I was getting a bad attitude on the other job and my supervisor had called me aside to talk to me.  I decide right then and there that it was my last day at that job.  I requested a two week emergecy vaccation so that I did not rush into leaving without thinking about it even though I knew that I was not coming back.  They granted me the vaccation.  After the first week of vaccation I called my supervisor and told my supervisor that I had decided that I was not coming back from vaccation.  I still do not regret leaving there.  I think it is one of the best decisions that I could have made.  Now I am enjoying my job and loving what I am doing for the first time in many years.

Hi Rocky,

Love your story!

Don't know if that just happened or if it was a while ago.

You have a great name for a tag line.

Over educated to be a real estate agent... there is no minimum or maximum in that department. Being good with people, providing service that is complete, timely and more focus on the property listings, the local area the real estate buyer has questions about puts the me me me professional in the background. The buyers are busy, want what they need now and if they don't get it, will from someone else in your market that is more of a little red hen. Less of a Little Jack Horner.
