November Changes In Albuquerque

The beautiful colors along the Rio Grande are quickly fading from a brilliant golden hue.  As November winds blow in cooler temperatures the leaves on the old Cottonwood trees fade and begin their fall, leaving the ground covered in a carpet of golden color.  The Salt Cedar growing along the rivers edge is changing from a darker golden color to a beautiful red which it will retain till spring.  The many ducks, geese and cranes are now migrating to warmer climates.  Soon the Sandia Mountain will wear a cap of white snow and the river will be silent in a deep winters sleep.

Hi Belinda,  I'm not ready for that white stuff just yet, we did have a dusting on the mountain already that was gorgeous, but it needs to stay on the mountain.  You need to hide the gas can from Will. Open house in the snow..Yuk!

Hi Liz & Bill, That really is a pretty drive, unfortunately as you may know some of area around Jemez, Los Alamos and Bandelier was caught up in that wildfire over the summer.  I have not been up to the damage myself but have heard its not pretty.  It will recover but not in our lifetime.

Hi Tony,  Were kinda partial to the area and her beauty but sure don't mind sharing it.  Glad you enjoyed!

Hi Dick, It wont be long now and the brown tones of winter will override the color.  I was hoping to get down to the Bosque Del Apache and take in the hundreds of thousands of water fowl. The Sand-cranes, Geese, Ducks and all kinds of wildlife are plentiful.  It's always a treat, about 50 miles south of the Q.

Hi Dorie,  I know your folks must love living in the foothills, its an entirely different view from their perspective.

John- I got to see some of the beautiful fall leaves when we were in Kansas.  No matter how much I love our warm Florida weather, I do love to see the brilliant oranges, reds and yellows of fall.

What a difference those golden orange colors must make to that scene, John!  I can imagine the extra stitches that snow would add to the tapestry would enhance it even more!

John, this is simply Beautiful over looking the Rio Grande. I was actually in Albuquerque a couple of years ago for the National Bowling tournament, and your Summers are lovely. Yes, it won't be long before snow falls on your mountains. Keep your camera handy!

We have salt cedar here but it is either green or a burned black from the wildfires. No nice fall colors here.

John, Your photo is beautiful.  I love the way the fall colors are set off by the blue of the sky with just a touch of cloud.  The commentary is perfect too.

Hi Joshua,  Yeah I want to see her bringing in those shovel load of Snow.  It would be purdy though!

Hi Kathy,  You know that is one of the best things about this great country, no matter where you go there is something that stands out, something beautiful.

Hello Amy,  We love it hear, I know there are much prettier places but its a good place to call home.

Hi Joan,  We would LOVE some of your moisture, we just incredibly dry, 5" below normal and not expecting much this winter.

Hi Krystal, Our white stuff is coming and most of the color is leaving quickly.  Doest this mean we get to hibernate?
