What I Am Thankful For Today!

To be honest there was a time in my life when I was not very grateful. I always wanted more, didn’t appreciate what I had, and felt that I was a victim in this world. But the time came when I may have lost some of the best parts of my life.

There had to be a change in my life if I was going to live happily in this world.  Changes were made that affected my whole outlook on life. This change permeated throughout every aspect of who I am and what I do.

Many of those closet to me, my wife and kids, became a high priority. Family vacations, trips, social events were now on an enjoyable level. This is something that I cherish today. Friends and relatives are a joy to be around, fun to talk to and get to know on an all new level.

The work environment is one of being of service to the customer rather rushing to get to the next job. Ironically, business has grown during this time when so many struggle in the construction industry. I am thankful for all those that have come to me for help.

I am thankful for my health too. I am still an active player of sports and recreation that many are not able to do. We are all getting older but I have been blessed with the ability to be active physically.

Today, my need to complain about my life has switched to a feeling of gratitude for all the blessings in my life.

Tom - beautifully written story of what you are grateful for today - all the things I too cherish!  Almost 13 years ago, I was drinking my life away. On December 12, 1998, I decided to change my entire life and that started with putting down the "drink" and never looking back. Hitting a bottom so low and scary, I now appreciate all the intangible gifts in life like my family, my dog, a sunny day, fresh snow and all things nature.Things don't make you happy, people and relationships do!

I'm actually gratefully to have fallen so far, that I now recognize how blessed I am and live each day with passion. There's not a night I go to sleep without thanking God for all He has giving me. Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring story! I think I'll have to write my own!

Hi Tom.  Yes, it's so great that you have so much to be thankful for.  Family is everything so it's good that your focus is here.  And, wow, what a difference focusing on customer service can make.  Way to go.

Tom. this so warmed my heart! I read that you are sincere and truly thankful for what you have. When your blessings are appreciated you are usually granted more! Loved it and thank you!

Deb - I was once told that "If you can't appreciate what you have, what makes you think you will get any more". It kind of changed how I looked at things, people and situations.

Thanks for the kind words today!

Great job!
