Feedback – it’s worth 60 seconds of your time.

We have all heard the phrase ‘We are in this together’ and we all probably know that this is true in real estate. As a ‘people’ business where credibility and trust are key, our ability to work with others in a concise, practical and professional manner is paramount to our success.

Today I would like to blog on an area where we can help each other out in a tangible yet less public way. The area of feedback. As investors or agents, we all work with properties where the goal is to get them sold! Many times buyers buy. Many more times, they do not! We want to know why someone DID NOT want to offer on our properties when they’re shown. In particular our Sellers want to know!

I cannot speak for every state but in Georgia we have these cool little ‘Supra’ lockboxes that tell agents when their property is shown. One of the most underutilized features is something that the system can do automatically and that is send an e-mail to the showing agent requesting feedback. I don’t know about you but I am amazed at how little this feature is used. This is a goldmine of opportunity to help others out! Simply taking 60 seconds of your time to share your feedback on a property in a quick e-mail can be paramount to someone making ‘that adjustment or two’ that helps get the property sold. Sometimes the sharing of the feedback to the Seller will bring an offer where moments before no interest in making one existed because the Sellers can make an adjustments to meet the buyers needs. The reasons people have for why they do not make offers are as varied as the people themselves so we should not assume!

Speaking of assuming, many times I hear this line ‘there is no way they can sell that property’ or ‘that property should sell easily’ and for that reason alone, no feedback is given. Every situation is different so let us not assume anything. If given the opportunity to give feedback, I suggest to give it even if brief. You never know when you might make someone’s day including your own. Furthermore, you get to help your colleagues out and in this market, we can all benefit from that!

And with that, feel free to give feedback on this post. :-D

Not taking the time to offer feedback is a sign of a lazy Realtor
