How much are property taxes for Granville County NC new homes?

2011 Granville County Property Taxes | Granville County NC Property Tax Guide

How much are Granville County, NC new home property taxes? That's a very common question.

Granville County is just north of Wake County, and just northwest of Durham County

Lower land costs make this county an attractive place for many homebuyers looking to have some land of their own.

Creedmoor is particularly popular - just a few minutes from Falls Lake State Park, with easy access to Durham and Raleigh.

When were Granville County NC property values last adjusted (assessed)?

Granville County revalues all real estate every eight years, per NC requirements.  This procedure allows the Tax Department to adjust the appraised value of real estate to reflect the property's true value in light of changing real estate market conditions.

The most recent valuation occurred in 2010 with the next scheduled for 2018.

How much are Granville County 2011 property tax rates?

Here are the 2011 rates, by city and town within Granville County.

To get the total property tax rate for a district, simply add the county tax to the district tax.

For example, Creedmoor has a town rate of 0.725, and the Granville County rate is 0.8250.  Add the two together - the total tax rate for Creedmoo, NC is 1.55.

How Do I Figure Out What These Granville County Property Tax Numbers Mean?

It's not as confusing as it looks.  The tax rates are based on the assessed value of the home, not the asking price.

• Divide the assessed value by 100.

• Multiply the result by the combined rate on the right side of the table.

• The result will be your yearly property tax bill, as of 2011.

For 2011-2012, tax rates can vary from 0.825% (Granville County only) to 1.55% (Creedmoor, NC).  There is no guarantee that tax rates will remain the same - check the Granville County property tax site for most recent information.

Good Morning Penny, "Ouch" - your property taxes are pretty high!  It is interesting to see what other areas of the country are paying.  Wonderful post to inform clients of tax liability after the purchase.

Dan - it's interesting to see how different states generate the income they need to operate.  You're in California, which has the highest sales tax in the nation.   The average property tax rate in the nation is 1.38.  North Carolina has an average of 1.10, and California has an average of only .68.

Also, in California, the personal income tax is usually about 2 points higher than it is in NC.   Guess it all averages out somewhere!
