The Day After the Big Day!

To say I am too full for words would be an understatement.  However, a few of my grandkids found a way to shed some extra energy on the day after Thanksgiving.  They though it GREAT fun to dive into an unheated swimming pool, and then percolate for awhile in the 102.5 degrees of the spa!

I hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful holiday weekend!  At my house it seems there is some remnant of Thanksgiving lurking in every corner.  Cookies, pie, turkey, you name it!  Considering how much was eaten on the big day, and I sent home with family, I’m shocked there is still as much here as there is.   Dangerous stuff – A moment on the lips – forever on the hips!

Swimming in the pool.  A great Thanksgiving tradition maybe.

But not here in Oregon...only a few hundred degrees to the north.

What a fun way to spend the day after Thanksgiving, Myrl!  Tell me about the trees, Myrl.  Do they not lose their leaves in the Sacramento area?  All our leftovers are gone except for the sweet potato souffle.

Lisa - It's so true!  We really need to seize those special moments.

Philip - It seems the minute we go back to Standard Time, and the days get shorter, I reach for the sweats more and more.  And there's nothing wrong with that!

Jim - It's true those of you in the degrees north of us are a little chillier than we are.

Laura - Yes, truly precious!

Walter - Our trees are in color.  Or at least most of them are.  They are beginning to lose their leaves the last several days.  The green leafed trees in the picture, may keep their leaves year round.  We have several varieties of trees that do - in addition to firs, pines, and cedars, etc.

Myrl,

What a delightful slide show.  You have a gorgeous family and everyone is having a marvelous time.  We had T'day at friend's home, and somehow we ended up with most of the turkey, but luckily left the carrot cake and the dressing behind...less on the hips, LOL A

Myrl, it sure looks and sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving.  I'm always amazed that the kids will jump into the pool at this time of year, but, I guess we used to do the same in the lakes back east.

There aren't too many places in the country where people are swimming on Thanksgiving. Kinda cool living in California Myrl. Thanks for the post, sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.

Alexandra - Everyone did seem to have a really delightful time.  My problem is that I always cook far too much, and then it haunts me after everyone leaves.

Juli - I'm convinced kids don't have the same thermostat we adults do:-)

Cathy - There are a few places where holidays are just a little different.  California - Florida - Hawaii, for starters:-)

Tom - It was a great holiday weekend.  I must say I haven't strayed more than 500 feet from the house for 4 days.  I feel like a toad on Ritalin:-)

John - I cooked a 24 pound turkey, and a large spiral cut ham.  There were 3 kinds of potatoes (mashed, Carolina Low Country style, and yams in rum sauce, pecans and raisins).  Then there was the antipasto, beet-apple salad, ambrosia, deviled eggs, butternut squash with nutmeg and apples.  Oh yes, and dressing with pinenuts and golden raisins too.  I won't even bore you with the 5 pies, and cookies.  All to feed a mere 14 people.  It was entirely insane.

Lyn - I doubt the icebergs would have stopped 'em:-)

Myrl,

My mom used to tell me that grandkids are wonderful and she said she was surprised how much she loved them. We too had to freeze leftovers. Great pictures! Thanks for stopping by my blog I appreciate the support.

Myrl, it does look like a great time...I also liked doing the cold pool and then the hot jacuzzi.  My cousin has a pool here in Alabama, but the temps are just a little chilly for an unheated pool.

Myrl,

Your grandchildren are precious and they really know how to have fun! What a joy they must bring to every occasion! Those are great slide photos of them enjoying family time together in the pool and spa. With kids, there are no limitations! They are so beautiful!

These are the days they will never forget and it's all because of you and the sacrifices you have made. It's the togetherness that is truly satisfying! Food is only secondary.

Hi Myrl, I see that Grandma is about keeping the family photographic records of all the kids in your life. I know your Thanksgiving was also very special. You thrive with family ! It was a wonderful holiday and I am fully recovered (having a great Open House today and picking up several buyers ) make the day successful and quite enjoyable as well. My Seller came home early before I could close up and pretended to be a guest. I was working with a very interested couple. She was so complimentary when the buyer prospects left. She said that the flow and the diligence to make that person feel so comfortable in her home had to be from many years of successful experience. I smiled my big grin.

Yesterday I took the afternoon off and went to the sea and loved it. I left 30 minutes too early because it is was a simply outrageous sunset that I missed.

Hi Myrl~ Your photos of beautiful grandchildren enjoying the pool after a Thanksgiving feast made me happy and sad all in an instant! Although I love living in Seattle, my memories of years spent outside by the pool with my grandchildren in Arizona flooded in.

Isn't it wonderful to enjoy the outdoors year round with your precious family! This is really what the holidays are all about!

Best regards from Seattle,
