The Valley Trader - One of the Shenandoah Valley's Best Kept Secrets

One of the great things about living in a small community is the down home flare it offers.  In our community, there is one weekly event that causes local residents to hustle down to the local convenience store.  No, it's not the lottery, it's The Valley Trader

The Valley Trader is a quirky weekly sale flier that is filled with just about everything you can think of, including the kitchen sink.  The Valley Trader offers ads to anyone who wants to post them relating to just about any item they want to sell, and most ads are free.  The Valley Trader makes its money off of sales of the weekly publication.

If you need a bumper for a 1986 Ford F150, you'll probably find it.  Looking for a new puppy?  No problem.  What breed?  How about a wedding dress?  They have them.  Backhoe?  You bet.  What about a house?  Are you ready to move?  From bicycles, to movies, tools, trailers, furniture, cameras, guns, exercise equipment, animals, office equipment, business equipment, tractors, trucks, cars, motorcycles and scooters it's all there, and much much more.

Every Wednesday The Valley Trader comes out with a fresh edition that will last for one week.  Ads need to be at The ValleyTrader office by Saturday to make the following weeks publication.  It costs $1.55 per copy and it's well worth it if you're looking for something.  There are few things missing from the weekly publication.

Take a look at the online edition and make sure to pick up your current Valley Trader at a store near you.  It's available throughout the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Northern Virginia and the Panhandle of West Virginia.  There are bargains galore, and you might just find a Christmas present in there.

A 1986 Ford F150 bumper - well, don't that beat all...that's just what I've been looking for!  Thanks, Mike!

Pick one up, Virginia.  I bet you can find one down there.  I've sold and bought cars, motorcycles, bicycles, office equipment, trailers, tools, etc., from the Trader.   It's a great little paper.

Hello Mike:

I'm glad to see the Valley Trader has weathered the storm.  So many small circulations like this have been eaten alive by Craig's List & E-bay

Brian, it has been around for a long time and is just as popular as ever.  It really does have a little bit of everything.  Great little paper.

Good evening Mike: The Valley Trader has Community written all over it - I bet that's one reason why it has weathered the storm. Plus, Craigslist has not exactly been making positive headlines, little papers like these can only benefit from that. I love it! I don't think we have anything quite like this ... the Pennysaver yes, but The Valley Trader appears to be a whole different level.

(I've been busy Mike but I just read up on some posts and wanted to say CONGRATS to you and Buffy! It's just beautiful and very inspiring - you got us beat by 21 years :-)

Mike, we have a similar publication here called the Pennysaver. It is actually one of the rare cases where I still print advertise.

Ours was the Nickel Ads. I dunno if it still exists in Portland, because I don't live there anymore. But, yup, the kitchen sink and everything underneath it!

Hi Mike - We have one of those weeklys in our town.  My hands are so black after reading it.

Andrea, it really does have just about everything you can imagine in it.  It's a lot of fun to look over, and if you need something, it's probably in there.  Thanks for the kudos.  Twenty-nine went by very quickly.  So, before you two know it - it will be here.  Have a great Thursday!!

J. P., this little circular does accept paid ads too.  Maybe I should give it some thought.  Are you getting leads from it?

It does have everything, including the kitchen sink in it, Gayle.  There are very few things that don't show up in there over a few weeks.  Have a great Thursday.

That sound about like this, Conrad.  It used to be that way, but today it's not so bad.  Great opportunities abound.

Have loved the Valley Trader for years, and found many good deals in it - but BE CAREFUL SUBSCRIBING TO THE ONLINE EDITION - THERE IS A SNEAKY LITTLE "RECURRING PAYMENT" CLAUSE IN THE USER AGREEMENT THAT AUTOMATICALLY SIGNS YOU UP FOR IT. Was not too happy with that. Luckily I received a notice from Paypal, which I had used to pay for a one month ONLY subscription, and cancelled the recurring payment. Still love the VT, but really hope they stop this practice asap.
