The number of FSBO decline due to more sellers turning to Real Estate Agents

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Town & Country Realty

The times have changed and now a majority of sellers are relying on Real Estate agents to help sell their home. Real Estate agents have the expertise and experience and are sure to make the process as easy and quick as possible - old methods seem to be going out the door.

From 1991 to 2011 the percentage of sellers using an agent to sell their home rose from 77% to 87%!

During the same time period, the number of sellers who sold their homes as an FSBO decreased from 19% to 10%. Sellers feel that Real Estate professionals can help sell their home in a reasonable time frame, really get the property advertised all over the internet and price the home right.

Will FSBO become extinct? What do you think?

I don't think the FSBO will ever become extinct. Frankly there are neighborhoods that are so popular in my market that a well-priced FSBO will sell. The bulk of sellers will always need help though. Nice post!

very true, and always remember...anyone can get lucky!  that happens as we all know, but, sellers (and buyers) need us.  some of them just don't know that they do and we have to convince them of that with our knowledge and expertise.

just curious mike, where did you get yoru stats from?  i'd like to quote them and the source.

thanks...tom timmons

I have seen a few FSBO's pop up here and there in my area.  In the end, the go with a real estate agent.
