Why would I say I love the number 5? Well, today the number five means so many thing, starting with today January 3rd, 2012. You see today is my 5 year anniversary on Activerain! Yes, 5 years of commenting, blogging and friendships.
But, let’s look at how the number five goes way beyond this 5th anniversary today! Back in June I took a trip to Seattle to speak at Raincamp and I loved it as I got to meet many new friends, but there was one thing I didn’t like… The pictures, you see, I realized how much weight I had gained.
Upon returning to Portland, I got my personal trainer and started on a path of weight loss and that is where another 5 comes in to play. I’ve lost 55 lbs as of today since Raincamp Seattle. Above are the pictures from Raincamp and below is the picture of me today. (Thanks for the pictures Bob)
What is my next connection with the number 5 on my fifth anniversary of being drenched in the rain? Between me and my team we have closed 45 homes directly from leads and referrals from Activerain. Do you think I’m going to stop blogging and commenting?
There are even more connections with the number 5 Todd? Though I would say I have made many more than 5 friends in the rain, there are 5 that I would consider close friends now and in some cases I would call family. The first is Katerina Gasset out of Florida. She was someone who I met through the rain and then got to meet in person back in September 2009. (read that story here by Katerina) But, that wasn’t what made the connection. You see I was making a change in my life, I was finding religion and I had lots of questions that Katerina helped me answer and with her help, I truly found God and family happiness. (Thank you Katerina)
The 2nd person is my good friend Christine Donovan who we now talk at least a couple times a month and I love talking to her and look forward to the calls. We talk about family, business and life and it is always a highlight of my day.
The next person who came into my life because of Activerain is my good friend Jill Watts. Jill is someone that I just have to hug every time I see her. The best part about Jill is she only lives a few miles away and I get to see her often. She is a truly a kind and caring person and I am truly blessed to have her in my life.
Number 4 is Ken Rosengren another Vancouver agent who I actually met because of Jill. Ken and I love to joke and we actually drive each other to do better. (Competitive man thing) I love hanging with him and I’m certainly glad to have gotten to know him and his family.
Now, #5 is Wanda Kubat-Nerdin and she really has become family. A few years back we lost a puppy when he dug out under a fence and ended up getting hit by a car. Though I had known Wanda through blogging and commenting, it wasn’t until a few months after the accident that she changed our life and household forever. You see Wanda had a couple pigs that happened to have had babies. I thought they were so cute and she offered us one for free. We immediately jumped in the Jeep and though it was a rough trip, we came back with our beloved family pet Athena the Wonder Pig. So, as you can see Wanda and I are now related. (Even if only by pet, but she is still part of our family as far as we are concerned)
Now, this next five is something that I talked about at Raincamp. I truly believe that without Activerain this next one couldn’t be possible. You see, 5:30 is the time for dinner with my family. This is a time that I will not miss because it is time I can’t get back. No phone calls, no emails, no business meetings… Nothing, this is family time and thanks to Activerain and the business I have gotten from it, this time has become something that I can afford to do or better yet is something that I can’t afford to miss.
I love the number five and I plan to live and love the next five years in the rain just as much as I have the past five years. I hope to make even more friends and expand my business thanks to Activerain, so thank you Activerain for being part of my life for the past 5 years.
