Giving Back To The Community

Today I read an article about how the Napa, CA chapter of Realtors and Affiliates chose 14 charities to recieve proceeds from their 2007 annual holiday fundraiser.  This is a great cause and I think we should all take a lesson from this association.  It is important to give back to the community and there is no better way than hosting a fundraiser for local charities.

14 charities to benefit from Realtor holiday fundraiser

The Napa Chapter of Realtors and Affiliates have chosen 14 charities to receive proceeds from their 2007 annual holiday fundraiser which has raised more than $150,000 during the past three years.

This year's charities are: Bags of Hope, Napa firefighters, Cope, CASA A Voice For Children, Community Resources for Children, Boys & Girls Club of  Saint Helena and Calistoga, Napa Valley Food Bank, Napa Valley Spay/Neuter Network, Cybermill Clubhouse, NEWS, Vine Village,  Special Olympics,  Napa Valley Support Services,  Hospice of NV.

The chairwoman of this year's event is Chandra Brouillette at North American Title, 255-1900 or cbrouillette@nat.com.

This year's event will be held Dec. 13, at the Masonic Temple from 8-10 a.m. More than 250 Realtors and real estate related affiliates attend. There is a silent auction, live auction and a raffle. This year's auctioneer is former Napa Chief of Police, Dan Monez.

To make a tax deductible contribution or donate an item to be auctioned, call Marcia Hadeler at Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley, 815-0569 or mhadeler@cbnapavalley.com

I give thanks every day that I am in a position to help others and not have to be on the receiving line.  Realtors should be giving back to their industry (in helping other Realtors) and their communities in any way they feel comfortable.
