Laramie, Wyoming Real Estate: Mount Rushmore

By

After a rainy hike around Devil's Tower and some time in their very old visitors' center, we were off again.  Two hours later we arrived at the second destination of our trip - Mount Rushmore!

It is always amazing that because of the hilly, forested terrain and the twisty roads you can't see the monument until you are nearly upon it.  What fun it is to drive around the last long curve in the road and there it is!

     Mount Rushmore in the rain

Yes, it was raining, colder and windy... and our umbrellas kept blowing inside out.  Yet, it was still awesome!   Funny how when you're with your favorite people nothing else matters....

It looks like or past presidents are crying about something. I have my opinion of why that might be!

Hi Brenda, I loved Than's comment and I must say I was thinking something along the same line. Maybe this mountain monument needs a good cleaning but it could be just thee rain making it look it that way. Sounds like a great trip and certainly I look forward to getting there one day. .

Brenda, You just said one of the best quotes that I have seen in a long, long time.  "Funny how when you're with your favorite people nothing else matters..."  That is so true.

Hi Brenda,  The Black Hills are so amazing,  Hope you had time to drive thru Custer State Park to see all the buffalo and other animals or up to needle highway.  I love the Black Hills.

Than,  Too funny!  They do remind one of a certain seventies anti-pollution commercial, don't they?!

William - not to worry, it was just the rain pouring down that made them look that way1

Hi Gary - I hope you get to spend some time with a favorite person today!

Thanks, Tony - It was fast - but fun! We did get to prove that it is possible to see some great things .... and they were not really that far away!

Hi Judy - So true - and the older they get the faster that time seems to go...

No, Will, we did not get to drive through the actual Custer State Park.  We stayed in Custer, though, and I love the terrain and ambiance of that little town!

Did you get to the Chief Joseph monument on this trip too? Wonder if they'll ever finish it?

Tim, yep, however, we did just view him from the road since if I recall it is pretty expensive to get into the actual area.... or we're just cheap! : )  And no, I don't think they are going to ever finish it....in our lifetime!
