Well, I am going with Approved.

I know I have a 20% chance of being corect but I do have some (very little) logic in making my choice.

It looks like it could be albatross, approved or pedalled.  The words went from four vowels to three vowels to 2 vowels?  But you said only one, so I don't know.

Than has this right - approved.  The first and last letters of the words spell out a color - ORANGE and  INDIGO.
