Free days at Disney World

I went to Disney World.... Almost

My daughter Sue, who lives in Huntington Beach, CA was in Orlando last weekend for salesFree Boat ride meetings and I took the opportunity to go to Orlando and spend some time with her.
We went to Disney World a couple of times for several hours but did not actually enter any of the theme parks. So you think that’s nuts?
Our first encounter was at the booth where they were collecting $14.95 to park for the day at the Magic Kingdom. Sue told the lady we were just going to check out the resorts so the lady directed us to the Contemporary Resort where the entry guard looked at my driver license and showed us where to park free
The Monorail rides were fun and there was lots to see along the route. Back at the Contemporary Resort there were free boat rides to Fort Wilderness and a resort where we could have gone in the pool but didn’t, we just watched the geyser and took another boat ride.
Along the way there were lots of places to eat and drink. Epcot Fireworks

Our first day ended at the Polynesian Resort where we ate and grabbed a couple of chairs at the beach to get a good view of the 8 PM fireworks from Epcot. The movie “Cars” was playing (free) on the beach also.

Our second day trip was to The Animal Kingdom Resort, again free parking. We took a seat in rocking chairs off the lobby and watched the Zebras, Wilder-beast, Giraffes, Ostriches and other animals eat and play. It was kinda like a free trip to the zoo.

During our 2 trips we took about a dozen free boat rides and visited Downtown Disney, The Sue and MickeyYacht Club Resort, The Boardwalk, The Beach Resort and a couple of others I can’t remember in addition to those already mentioned.

So if you want to spend some time at Disney without paying for going into the theme parks, you now have the way to do it. You can ride the boats and the monorail, eat, drink, and oh yeah, lots of places to buy Disney merchandise too. From the Boardwalk we took a boat ride to the back entrance to Epcot but we did not get off the boat.

I am just four weeks away from a vist to the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, we won't be doing it for free.

Al -- Then you could have jumped on a Disney bus and stopped at every hotel and Downtown Disney. I never thought about getting around like you did!  There is certainly a lot to do and see there without spending a penny!

Not sure I would want to miss the theme parks, but a FREE day sounds like a nice idea in the mix.  THanks!

Al - We have a Downtown Disney here with free parking, but we don't have a free Monorail or boats here in Orange County.  It sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Al, what a great way to have a good visit with your daughter. Enjoy it now, because if and when the grand kids come along, I doubt not going into the park will work. lol.

I have to respond to this post because I'm writing this from the Fairfield Inn ($109/night or free if we choose to use one of our Marriott Rewards free nights or points. Plus an upgrade since we are Platinum Elite members) on Harbor Blvd right across the street from Anaheim's "D" Land.

We arrived yesterday evening (free parking for hotel guests), checked into our room and awaited the arrival of our Granddaughter (B Day girl) and my son and daughter in law whence we walked to "D" Land (less than a quarter of a mile) and entered the "Magic Kingdom" with our annual passes ($100 per year and we can go everyday if we want to).

We watched the famous Disneyland Parade, our Granddaughter walked right onto a half a dozen rides with absolutely no lines or waiting and we closed the park. We then walked to Downtown Disney, a free venue loaded with dozens of attractions and fabulous eateries and sat down for a wonderfull Itialian dinner, bottle of fine wine and relaxation.

As I write my Granddaughter is proding me with her new D Land baseball bat to roll out of the rack for another exciting day. ROSE AVA, POPS & TANA

We, like you, love to look for deals and steals whenever possible albeit we can't share the great bragging rights you recently indulged in. But it's all fun when you can spend these precious moments with your little loved ones. Great post!

Al, now look at you being the clever one!  I've always wanted to go to Disney ~ closest we got was to Epcot and Universal Studio.  So happy to hear that you and your daughter had some quality time together! And at a reasonable rate!! :)

Congrats on 6 Featured Posts the my friend!

Good deal, free is always the best.  I am just surprise you did not go into the park as well even if it is expensive.

Have been to the mouse many times. Only one time for free when I delivered a computerized engraver to the park in Orlando about 25 years ago. Got to go underground at the park. Pretty Interesting. I like free but I like the inside also.

Hi Al, You sound like me at Disneyland Ca. last year.  Everything that I could do free, even sat outside the main entrance just to watch the little kids have fun!

I find it interesting that people come from all over the world to go to the Disney parks and pay for a 5 day pass what local residents can pay for an annual pass and the locals don't take advantage of it.
