New Hampshire Home Stager, Transforming My New Home - Dining Room

In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.

First decision was paint colors.  I prefer keeping it simple, limiting the home to only a couple of colors.

I knew I wanted to use one of my favorite colors, Ben Moore Stampede 979, in several rooms.  I chose Ben Moore Thunder AF-685 as a complimentary color for most of the remaining rooms.

Our first project was adding some warmth and sophistication to the Dining Room.

I wanted to give the room a more formal look by creating the appearance of wainscoting.

First we painted the top portion with Stampede and the lower portion with primer.

We attached 1 1/2 x 1/4 pine lattice wood strips, spaced about two feet apart.  We primed the wood pieces and then painted the entire lower portion with trim color.

Adding a new light fixture and ceiling medallion completed our transformation.

It's funny...I didn't like the wall sconces and planned to replace them, but somehow painting the wall gave them a new look and I like them now.

Next up... Living Room

Sharon, love the new look! Will be going to check out Stampede, because it looks great on the computer screen...also like the look of the wainscotting and agree about the wall sconces.

Al & Peggy:  Thank you!  Stampede is a very versatile color...sometimes brown and sometimes greenish in color.  It looks great with a white or ivory trim.

Mary:  Thank you!  It was a very simple project and didn't take very long either.  Total cost for wood pieces was about $40...not much of an investment!

Yup! Mission accomplished! I love it and can say I would have think the same of the light scones. Much better just with the new wall color.

I cannot wait to see more "Before" and "After".

Thanks for sharing;  I'm a complete dummy when it comes to choosing colors and staging, so I'm looking to learn from you.  Question;  what did you do with the floor?  It looks different................

Love the color Sharon! I have seen the color but not used it....now I will. Love the extra detail on the wainscoting too. I did that to two sides of my island that were just plain boring wood. Made all the difference.

Debra:  Elegant is the direction we were headed, thank you!

Lydie:  Suprising how much of a difference wall color can make.

Kenneth:  Funny you should mention the floor....we didn't do anything.  It's just a photographic/lighting difference.

Julia:  I have no idea what they are, but I like them now and will keep them.

Shar:  It's a great, warm color.  Adding trim can really dress up an area.  You should do a post on the island you transformed.

Hi Sharon...Now you've got me hooked.  I liked your front door transformation so much I had to take a look at the other posts about your new home.

What you did to this dining room was really pretty simple and made a dynamite impact.  Love the sconces now too.  No need to rush out to replace them.  It looks like they are exactly what is needed there.

Hi Sharon...I took another look at your dining room picture and realized that I would love to do he same thing in my husbands study.  His is the only room that is architecturally plain.  This would really pep it up.

Thanks,

Kate

Sharon:  It's a dark color, but so rich.  I really enjoy it in every room I've used it in.  Some people see green and some brown.
