Luxury Real Estate Marketing: Do You Speak Maitake?

maitake mushrooms Santa Barbara

Yesterday, we bought these beautiful mushrooms at our "vegetable pusher's" stand in Santa Barbara.  Among his many vegetables he also grows mushrooms on organic matter and uses purified water.  One of his helpers likes to add them to her scrambled eggs. She also told us that the American Indians ate them for their curative powers.  Of course, we had to try them, and research them.  Here is another picture from the side angle.

Maitake mushrooms, luxury marketing

Maitake is an edible mushroom also known as "hen in the woods" in America, as it grows in clusters at the base of oak trees.  Besides having a wonderful taste, a meaty texture, and a slightly nutty flavor, it is also known for its healthy attributes.

Medical research has indicated that whole maitake can regulate blood pressure, glucose, and insulin.  It is rich in minerals (potassium, calcium) in vitamin B' , C's, proteins, fiber, and amino acids. In 2009, Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center conducted a human trial and found that Maitake could stimulate the immune system of breast cancer patients, as well as other cancers.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday, Cheers Ron & Alexandra

This comment flips you to 550,000 +.  We have a very good local expert who can find us some terrific mushrooms in all the woods around here.  But, I wouldn't trust just anyone.  Those were great shots of the fungi!

Debb,

I am sure that you can find them in your area.  Thanks for the comment, I originally saw a show with Chef Ming Tsai cooking with Jacques Pepin and they were extolling the virtues of Maitake.

Don,

Thanks, it would have if comments from others were worth 25 points. (I am getting there)  Each comment is 4 points, and 25 to you.  I would definitely use an expert and Minnesota has some great mushrooms.  When my grandparents lived with us in St.Peter, they would go mushroom hunting with one the local experts. Never heard of them, but I've never claimed to know mushrooms.  You always have the prettiest food to share!

Sharon,

Thank you, I love mushrooms as does Ron, and all the latest literature on food says they are good for you as they contain all kinds of antioxidants, et. A

My Dad was a country boy who grew up on the farm and I thought he was nuts when he came home with a bag of these mushrooms in a bag one day---we were all scared to eat them fearing they would be poison, but he assured us he knew what he had picked--he called them ruffled mushrooms and found them growing under a tree and I do admit to tasting they were delicious!  I have never had them since
