Don't give the buyer the winter blahs.

If you are jumping on the early spring market there are ways to avoid giving the buyer the winter blahs when they view your home.

Let's face it there isn't too much appeal to snow, dormant grass or bare branches. This means you need to work harder at curb appeal.

Keep the driveway and walks clear of snow. Make sure the exterior lights are clean. Try to keep the lower windows sparkling. A planter of evergreen boughs and dogwood branches with apples can add color and texture to a boring winter exterior.

Use color, texture and sparkle to add warmth to your home. Blank walls can look very cold especially when they are white. Add color with art and accessories. Add texture with materials such as throws and draperies.

If you have a fireplace, light it for viewings to give the room that cozy feeling.

Add sparkle with metals, glass and lighting.

This is not the time of year to keep the thermostat turned low. Make sure the temperature is comfortable when the buyer enters.

Don't ignore your backyard. Brush off the BBQ and shovel that deck or patio to give the buyers an idea of what summer delights are awaiting them.

If you are having an open house, set the table for guests.

Turn on a game without the sound to help male buyers see themselves enjoying the space.

Don't give your buyers the winter blahs.

Show them a warm and welcoming home.

It's hard not to get the winter blahs this time of year Janice, everybody is a little sun-deprived in the middle of February.

Malcolm, today is a perfect example of one of those blah days when a buyer needs to make their home warm and welcoming to contrast with the weather.

It's so gray and blah here in New Hampshire...lucky we don't have any snow to shovel off the walks right now but adding color is very important!

Sharon, It has been so overcast with rain or snow here that we are all craving color. Sellers should keep this in mind.
