Having the right tools as home stagers makes hanging art so much easier!

Having the right tools to hang art just makes our jobs as home stagers easier as art can take up too much time if you don’t know how to do it. We all use lasers in our home staging projects and over the years I have tried several out and finally settled on one I like. I actually call it ‘Larry Laser’ because it’s vital to my success. The only challenge is that once it’s stickiness is gone it no longer stays on the wall so I end up holding it. The manufacturer needs to work on that!

One of my PRES graduates Catharine Barbosa, introduced me to this new laser and I love it! It’s a Black & Decker product called Sure Grip Laser and it suctions onto the wall so you can measure hands-free.

Black & Decker Sure Grip Laser - love it!

My other essential hanging tools are my levels which are also products I buy at Home Depot.

Home Depot levels and two laser levels with grips on the wall

All of these tools make hanging art easier and more accurate for us.

and the finished look….

Using 56 - 60" as the half way mark they look fantastic!

On another note BIG THANK YOU TO HOME DEPOT Store Manager, Tony Main of the Park Royal Village Store. I was looking for Move-Alls a product I buy all the time and usually ‘gift’ my students with it. One of my pet peeves is that the gliders/sliders that I want are never with the other gliders so I waste time walking around the store looking for them. As it happened Tony and his team were standing around talking and I asked them if they knew where this product was. We ended up talking for about 1/2 hour and I told them the products that home stagers use the most – and they were unaware of some of them. Their THANK YOU to me was paying for my purchases that I made that day! How generous is that! I look forward to some kind of a partnership with them because they are the DIY home seller’s dream store – priced right and good products

Glad these work for you, Dana!  I've seen numerous hanging devices used, but I've personally never needed a laser or measuring tool.  I found a link to a handy tool online that anyone can make for themselves and it looks very effective -- and would cost less than $1.

Dana - I'll definitely check out the Sure Grip laser.  It would be really useful when hanging a series of two or three paintings in a row.  Anything to make our jobs easier is much appreciated!

I'm glad to see that you like the Sure Grip, I saw an advertisement for it and was interested. Now I KNOW I am... thanks for the product research...

Maureen I just checked out that vidoe and his hand-made tool follows the same principle as the Hanging Level tool. I would be lost without my tools so I am not sure how you do it - but way to go!

Sally I know you like your tools and this is a good one!

Gregory - I like this tool and there are definitely others out there. This is a good one for grouping art when you are doing it by yourself.
