Simple imagery, simple observance. Yet a great response.

From a population with an estimated 10% Irish connection, St Patrick's Day seems to produce an adoption rate of of a very high order, a happy mixture of "real ones" and "wannabes", and why not?

I remember today as a tribute to my ancestry and family memories, to thoughts of my parent's (long gone) wedding anniversary, my early community, of concerts participated in with vigor and "real" celebration in poorer times, and in a different country.

It must be a product of my aging, but this year I kept my celebration really low key. Two ties this week sported shamrocks. Even with a dark coat, response from others was generous, and questions of connection, genuine.

I have even had my corned beef and cabbage lunch.

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone. Celebrate it as you will. And enjoy.

A very special St. Pat's Day to you.  I'm not Irish but sure do enjoy corn beef and cabbage.

Born and raised in Chicago, everyone was Irish  on St. Patrick's day! It has stuck with me as I moved on. Enjoy your day!

Larry - I just wanted to pop by to check on your St. Patrick's Day post.  I imagine that you have many interesting stories to tell.  Yes, I think we all claim a little hint of being Irish on this special day!
