Kula Maui Hawaii Real Estate Listings Newsletter     -     March 2012

Kula is known for its small farms, with rich soil and good growing conditions.  The March Realtor Caravan brings us 3 different spins on the farming theme, though none of them are what you would call dirt cheap.  Boutique farms on Maui can do a good business with value added products and farm tours.  Do you think you'd be interested in any of these Kula properties for sale?

Kula residents are trying out the new Kula Bistro in the location where Cafe 808 used to be, across from Morihara Store.  As you can guess, it's an Italian style restaurant serving pasta and pizzas, along with other dishes.  Luciano Zanon is the owner who also does catering of large and small events.  They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, starting at 7:00 am.  808 871-2960

"I listen for a living." It's all about you.

Farms are a tough sell here on the East Coast.  Once a property is zoned Agriculture it is tough to get that changed.  Even with the advent of "localvore" and all the new organic vegetables that are being supplied to the high end restaurants farmers are a special breed.  I wish you all the best with this listing Georgina.

They all sound lovely! Have never been to the Kula area.  What is the maximum horse per acre on the Lower Kula property?

Larry - Over here the farms are more of a lifestyle than a way to support yourself, and some of the boutique farms are doing alright with more than just produce to sell.

Deb - Kula is pretty dry most of the year, so a lot of irrigation is needed if you want lush pastures.  A couple of horses on 2 acres would still need a lot of feed to supplement their diets.  But who ever said owning horses would be cheap and easy?
