Rocky Mountain High

garden of the godsAs a child growing up, I was a 'government brat.'  We lived all over the country ~ from Coast to Coast, and many places in between.  After graduating from high school, I moved to Colorado, and for the most part, have been here ever since.  Few places that I have ever been have rivaled the beauty and serenity and awesomeness of Colorado Springs.  We are blessed with many natural wonders, and amazing weather patterns that do glorious things as they move over the Rocky Mountains.

These are some recent photos that I took in our area.  Please take a moment or two and relax and enjoy the splendor that is our very own Rocky Mountain High.

Mimi, no one expresses it quite like John Denver. Very nice.

If that song and video doesn't get a buyer motivated, I don't know what will. I moved here over 20 years ago after spending most of my childhood vacations here. I love your photos of Garden of The Gods. We take a trip to CO Springs every Thanksgiving. My mother in law flies in from the East Coast to meet us. I took her to Garden of The Gods last year for her first time. She loved it, and she's not easy to please. GREAT work.

Ms M, another thing we have in common.  When my Dad was with the Border Patrol and then the FBI, we moved all over the place too.  I think that's why I can talk to anybody.

Mimi, Colorado is simply beautiful, and most who relocate to our state, end up staying.     The weather is unpredictable but pleasant!

Mimi, Colorado is one of the few states that I would move to in a heartbeat.  I've loved my time out there.  It is beautiful, and the people are great.

I totally agree with you that Colorado is stunningly gorgeous. Mel and I lived in Telluride, Colorado for five years and traveled the state pretty extensively. Thanks for this beautiful trip down memory lane. Well done.

Mimi:

I came over from Patricia's post and I am certainly glad I did.  Your photos are beautiful and what I have seen of your state it is beautiful too.  John Denver had such a wonderful voice.  Rocky Mountain High is one of my favorites.

That is lovely. It opened easily on my iPad. What products did you use to create and publish it. I woud have had to insert a final photo of a Golden jumping in a lake for the last note... chuckle.

Good morning, everyone!  Thank you!

both are certainly beautiful states, Marte.  Montana a little too rural for me :)

Perfect song for them, huh, dear Roger?  Hope you're doing well this fine morning.

Susanna ~ thank you.  These views never grow old, huh?  And PLEASE, be my guest on the pinning.  I would love it.

Good morning, Paula.  I need to get to your neck of the woods with my camera.  It rivals Colorado Springs.

You call Expedia anytime, dear Kris.  I'd LOVE to show you around!

Good morning, Connie.  A good swift kick might motivate him, huh?  :) :)

Hello, sweet Rose.  It really is a gorgeous place.  Not a day goes by that I am not struck by the majesty around us.

I left Florida, Kevin, and never looked back.  Perspective . . .

Thank you so much, Sherry.  It's pretty idyllic.

Good morning, Barbara-Jo.  You must, of course, look me up if you ever get out this way!

Oh, dearest Debb, how much fun would that be!?  The days just get prettier and prettier.  Like writing, it is a new passion that I didn't know I had :)  My brother gave me a nice camera and there I was :)  :)

My little Mountain Range is so different from your peaceful lake, Gayle of my heart.  Both attesting to the majesty around us.  Miss you!  We're still planning on pontoons in September !

Good morning, Cal.  I often say that our weather is our best-kept secret.  People say How can you stand all of the snow?, and I just smile knowingly because we rarely have any.  Hope you are well, my friend.

Hello, sweet Peg!  It is, indeed, beautiful!  Since I got my new camera, I have been seeing it with a completely different vision, and I'm loving it.  Hope you're prospering.

Hello, Connie.  While I wasn't a fan of his politics, it makes me sad whenever I think of John Denver's untimely demise.  He had a lot of talent, and loved Colorado.

Your neck of the woods is so completely different, Debbie, but equally as beautiful.  And what a beautiful Spring we are having, huh?  Best wishes . . .

Hi, Mona!  I loved the moving all the time.  It nearly destroyed one of my brothers who couldn't deal with the constant change.  I also think it helped to form that outgoing nature that you and I share.

It is certainly true, Joan, if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.  But it is almost always beautiful.

Yes, the people ARE great, Mike (wink wink)  I even missed the winter this year.  Never really got too cold.  Phenomenal place to live.

Thank you so much, Patricia!  I'm so glad you enjoyed it!  So different from your area.

Well, thank you, William!  From you I consider that a compliment indeed!  Sincerely appreciate it.

I'm SO GLAD, Melissa!  Hard not to get totally involved when you hear that song, I totally agree.  And then I sing it for hours afterwards.  Thank you.

Good morning, Gretchen.  Telluride ~ it doesn't get much prettier than that.  It's a gorgeous State, and changes daily.  Thanks for stopping by.

Good morning, Evelyn.  So glad you enjoyed it.  Rocky Mountain High ~ really a classic (and I've been singing it for days :) )

Thank you, Ron!  I really appreciate that!  I have had a lot of fun doing it.  It is a new passion (photography) and with the ability to put them together like this, it is even more enjoyable!

Hey, Cheryl.  I used Windows Live Movie Maker (on a Mac it's iMovie).  Both are free products that come with your system.  Then I use an MP3 converter for songs I pick up from YouTube and overlay them.  Very simple after you've done it once. :)
