Fishhawk Lake Real Estate-How many hats do you wear as a realtor?

By
Real Estate Agent with Vernonia Realty 700512026

How many hats do you wear as a realtor?  Let’s see:

·        Marketing Genius

·        Professional Photographer

·        Therapist

·        Secretary

·        Juggler

·        Professional Organizer

·        Stager

·        Mind Reader

·        Numbers Analyst

·        Ethical Human Being (in theory)

·        Business Owner/Manager

·        Self-Employer

·        SEO Expert

·        Techno-Geek

·        Parent (sometimes when they are your clients’ children)

·        Economist

·        Futurist

·        Occasional Quasi Lawyer

·        Writer

  • Animal Handler

And this, of course, doesn’t take into consideration that you have a LIFE outside of real estate.

This was just off the top of my head  (sorry for the bad pun). What would YOU add to the list?

Gaylefriend*snap*, I think you missed comedian, because you have to use your humour to diffuse some situations too! Congrats on the feature!

So many different skills we have to bring to the table, I agree that counselor can sometimes be one of the hardest hats to wear during a transaction.

I'd say it's worthwhile to take photographer off the list and delegate that out to a professional. I've been doing it for years and it makes a huge difference in the listings as compared to my competition who don't do so.

I'd add contractor.  Often times I'm asked my opinion on what should be done to a house.  While I do have construction experience it's difficult sometimes to give accurate advice.

Marte~Marketing Genious, Sales Professional...just a turn of phrase that means we work damned hard on advertising/selling ourselves!

Than~Sadly, that is what kind of naive attitude people have about this business and why some feel the silly urge to get into it...because of all of that money we make. And that's why so many have left, because you work sometimes for months for no money at all. Separates the men from the boys. I'm a man, did I mention that??

Angie~ cute!! True!

Vicki~I love my job, TOO. And most of the time feel darned lucky to be able to ride the wave.

Gabe~I always enjoy your take on things.

Cheryl~Thanks for the re-blog--I'll have to go over and say it in person. I just learned about the green dots under "reblog" thanks to Richard Yates' explanation about Re-blogs in a recent feature that he has, too! (I didn't know til Dorie mentioned it....) And, yes it was meant for a chuckle along with a nod.

Dorie~You didn't really miss it as I only did it late afternoon yesterday--and THANKS for letting me know about the re-blog-woo hoo!

Michael~hopefully we never have to add Priest to this list.

Oh, Ellie, been there, I feel your pain! (Sometimes you wonder why couples are still together).

Richie~I even thought of more after posting this!

Rich~What I have found is that with the "rich" history of jobs I've had, from actress to construction worker (and beyond), along with 20+ sales jobs, it all adds up to the fact that I can pretty much talk with anyone and have something in common. Rocket scientist--maybe not--but who knows, maybe they enjoy photography??

Debb!

Dominique~sadly so....at least we're not surgeons, so we don't get blamed for killing someone.

*Peg*-in an earlier comment, I told Gary Woltal I was thinking "stand up comic", but somehow that wasn't quite the right verbiage. I totally agree, and humor can be disarming.

Morgan~yup, counselor, therapist, psychologist, hand-holder. So many ways to say "get this thing to CLOSING" without committing mass genocide or hari kari!

Now, Reba, the photography for me is one of the best parts.

Bryan~I was trying to figure out how to put my own twist on Angie's List in there, too.

Pamela~you are too funny--nice one--off the top of your head! (I recently heard an interesting discussion on NPR about punning and how popular it used to be, but isn't as favorable anymore. The Champion Punster was being interviewed).

Gayle - so funny, but so true! You can apply that to staging too - shocking the things people will tell you about their personal lives! Sometimes I really don't know what to say - me! Congrats on the feature GF!

Kris~I thought of you when I wrote "Stager", because most of the time, realtors really ought to leave it up to you professionals, but you know me, I LOVE that part if I have something to work with. And YUP, amazing the true colors that come out in people when you are in their homes or looking for one. I watch and see how people treat each other and think to myself, do I really WANT these people as my neighbors?

Eileen~Oh, YEAH....it's a layering process. I'm working on a new easement, survey, recording of such, how much each party will pay, blahblahblah.

Another one  currently, is the private well, that's not located on the actual property being purchased but IS located on the property of the cash buyer next door! (there's no spot for that on the Earnest Money Agreement, even though those papers are ridiculously too much as it is.) Addendum, addendum.

It seems with every transaction there is always something else you become an expert on.  One deal you become an expert on everything about repairing Viking stoves or the next you know about local sound ordinances.

Fun post Gayle - definitely brought a smile as I read through your bullet points. You pretty much covered them all...only thing I'd add is: Professional "To-Do" List Manager!

Gayle, I think you may have gotten all of them. LOL. I have to admit I getting a bit tired of wearing the economist and futurist hats.

Adrian~maybe I should add                 Fortune Teller!

Margaret~you're right, and sometimes it's like "Driving Miss Crazy".....

Sharon~oh, my YES! Mediation is my middle name as I usually represent both sellers and the buyers in my transactions.
