Spring cleaning ~ homemade cleaning recipes

It’s that time of year that brings out the “nesting” in all of us. Whether you are de-cluttering and cleaning to get your home ready for market or just cleaning for cleaning sake, you will want to use good old fashion cleaning recipes for the best results!

Many homeowners don’t realize cleaning products can be made from household pantry items..white vinegar, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, ammonia, olive oil and lemon juice are just a few you can use to make your house shine!

Check out Eco-friendly cleansers at: www.organizedhome.com.
Here are a few recipes that are economical and will make your house sparkle:

Homemade Spray Cleaner Recipe
Mix in a sprayer bottle:
1cup white vinegar
1cup water

Homemade Glass Cleaner Recipe
Mix in a sprayer bottle:
1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Strong Glass Cleaner Recipe
Mix in a sprayer bottle:
1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon clear, non-sudsing ammonia

Strong All-Purpose Cleaner Recipe
Mix in a sprayer bottle:
1 Tbsp clear, non-sudsing ammonia
1 Tbsp clear laundry detergent
2 cups water

Furniture Polish Recipe
Mix in a sprayer bottle:
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup lemon juice

Shake well and apply a small amount to a flannel cleaning rag or cleaning cloth.  Spread evenly over furniture surface. Turn cloth to a dry side and polish dry.

Good morning Dorie -

Yep you're right it's spring and time to clean up, clean out and spruce up!  Even we guys are ready to clean up our man caves aka the garages that seem to be the catch all during the winter months.  Who doesn't love a clean and organized garage :)

Hope you have a stellar day my friend!

John

Before there were all those fancy cleaners on the market that we enjoy today, I'll bet many of these homemade cleaners were the norm. Enjoy a Happy and Eco-Friendly Spring cleaning my friends!

Dorie - I immediately hit the "bookmark" button so I can make and use all these great cleaning products! I'm a clean freak and spend a small fortune on cleaning products. Now I can use things I already have in my home. Thanks for sharing!

Dorie, i love eco friendly tips...i tried one to get out water rings on my tiger maple table & found that full fat mayo left on the rings for an hour almost removed them- just amazed!

Dorie- I love using homemade and "green" products.  As a tip I add a little cornstarch in the window cleaning solution.  Just a little and it really makes the glass shine.

Dorie, all Italians use that white Vinagar trick, and I'll anything that someone says it works. Any tricks for the rings in a toilet due to hard water?

Dorie, I came here with Kathy's re-blog. I love olive oil furniture cleaning recipe. I use olive oil successfully for the stainless steel appliances and even granite counter tops, I will definitely will try your mix on the furniture. Thanks for sharing.
