Peony in Dillsboro, NC - Speechless Sunday

By

As I was strolling back to the MoonDancer Realty office after watching the Easter Hat Parade in Dillsboro, NC yesterday, I spied a beautiful yellow bloom tucked on the side of a 100 year old building now housing Jill’s Hair Cuts.

Most people will tell you that the only thing I know about most flowers is that I like to photograph them. As I wedged myself between the flower and the building, two ladies crossed the street and asked me, “Isn’t that a peony bush”? Obviously they don’t read my blog!

They didn’t need me to identify the flower, they were already familiar with it…they just hadn’t seen one in a while. The one lady is a craftsperson and actually makes flowers out of yarn. She had one on her hat and it really was pretty.

The closer I got to the bloom, the more interesting it became to me. Flowers on the macro level always give me more of a complete picture…whether I know the name of it or not.

It is always a treasure hunt when strolling Front Street in Dillsboro, NC. Not only are the shops attractive but all these blooms keep the town looking inviting and cheery.

Janis, thank you.

Suzanne, it does look very spring-ish, doesn't it?

Maria, I now this blooms every year but I always forget about it until it surprises me in the spring!

So in other words this is your way of saying you have photographed yet another thing you can't identify. (Just thought I'd save Roger the trouble)

Kevin, I think I could have gotten closer but it was a little windy.

No really, Leslie, I think it's a peony.  I'll ask April, she'll be able to identify it for sure.

Thanks Tony and Darcy, you too.

Gorgeous photos, Mona....and very sunny and bright.  Wow.

Thank you so much for framing my kitties.  It made a world of difference.   And, being an antique dealer, it really fit.

I might have to run that off, if you don't mind, and put it up in my office.

JoAnn, it's nice to hear from you...I like a mellow yellow!

Belinda, wonder why you can't grow peonies in the mile high city.  Doesn't seem fair does it...but then we don't have aspen trees here.

Ron, what a compliment...by all means print the photo off.

Patty, thank you for subscribing.  The photography is okay...the flowers are amazing!  I had a productive Easter...the grass got cut and  tomorrow's appointments are set.  I hope your day was lovely.

Hello again Mona. I don't think it matters what you know as much as what you share. Your pictures are terrific and go figure that the lady would have a hat with a magnificent flower like the one you were focused on.

Sheila, even though I would rarely wear a hat myself, much less one with a flower on it...this lady's hat WAS pretty cool.  Thank you for your sweet words.
