DJ Hammond Wants To Send You A Client

By
Real Estate Agent with Green Realty Group (808) 630-1828

Mike and Gayle Hawaii Real Estate Online (808) 630-1828So I check my email one more time before I go to bed and there is an email from DJ Hammond in Montana.  It is way past business hours in Montana so I leave him a voice mail and an email letting him know that we would be more than happy to assist his customer in his Honolulu Relocation.

I call good old DJ and he starts right in with the "Territory" stuff.  I ask him specifically about his customer Wade he ask me about and he says "Another Lady Took Him".  Wade is selling Zip Codes to Realtors for his client lead generation system.  I am always bothered by sales people that used this bait and switch tactic.  I wish they would just send out truthful emails/information and let those that need their help respond.  They are such a waste of time on money.

I have copied his email below for you.  If people have to lie about their intentions from the start, how good could their product possibly be?

Hello Michael,

I need some help for a customer of mine, they are looking to purchase in Waikki. I’m in Montana, so obviously I can’t be of much help there. If you are taking on new customers I’d like to introduce you to Wade, and hopefully you can help them find a good buy. Please give me a call at 406-532-5573, and we can discuss this further. Thanks for your help!

That really sucks and is in violation of our system. If you email Kerrie they'll remove him. Sorry that happened to you.

Cheers-

Greetings,

As an employee with Real Estate Pipeline, I take exception to Mike's blog. A couple thoughts:

There was nothing written in the email sent to Mike that was not truthful. Just because another agent took the customer before Mike contacted us does not mean the customer never existed. And just for the record, while we assign specific territories to participating agents, zip codes are not involved in the process.

The bottom line is that we had a customer looking to purchase property in an area in Honolulu and sent out emails to Hawaii agents looking for one who would be interested in working with that customer. One of those agents contacted us and signed up with our service before Mike contacted us. This is not a bait and switch, it is just a case of someone else being quicker to call.

Because we work with just one agent in an area, when Mike contacted DJ, the only thing DJ could do was offer to set Mike up in another, still available, area if that was something he would be interested in.

The email sent out was truthful; one of Mike's peers in Hawaii just was quicker to pull the trigger and ended up with the customer.

Thanks,

Grant Sasek

Thanks for your insight Grant- We all know you have to stick up for your company.  If I as a licensed Realtor did what you did I would have an ethics charge filed against me at the Board of Realtors.  The reason I posted the actual email was so people could read it and see for themselves what was said.  Had I called DJ and he said Will had already been placed with another agent, that would have been fine but he had no clue who Will was and opened his conversation by selling zipcodes.  "Bait and Switch"?  YOU said it, not me.

As far as the rest of your comments, In my most professional voice, "Blah blah blah".  I think that covers it.

Cheers-

This company sucks and anyone doing business with them is foolish. Someone in your market would get the business without these guys taking part of the comission. Stay away from them. I told Dj to stop contacting me and his reply was sign up and I will. Low Life dirtbag way to do business.

We just received the same e-mail. I'll pass thank you. And thank you to the agents who shared this in Active Rain! It would be nice to hear if any agents are having a positive experience with this lead provider.

Thank you for posting this informaiton.  I too got an e-mail today about a possible lead.  See below.  First of all, anyone who knows me knows that I go by "Stephen", so this is just a spam mail to get me to call them.  I didn't think there actually was a girl named Heather who wanted to buy in Hanover who would contact someone in Montana.  Need I say anything more.

It would seem Hungry Real Estate Agents are the perfect targets for scam operator.  If so, LET'S NOT GET HUNGRY!  Knock on those doors, work with referrals, hand out 100 business cards a day, always wear your Realtor Pin or a shirt with your company name on it, live - breathe & Sleep Real Estate!  Stay busy and these bad people will tempt others and NOT us!  Cheers-

I got a call from this bunch also.. They have a good line, so be on guard. Don't fall for this. BTW.. In Texas, we cannot give a referral fee to anyone unless they are licensed by TREC. Good luck!

Multiple of us just received the same email from DJ.  Shouldn't he spell out that he is with Real Estate PipeLine instead of REPL in his signature? At least there is the option to unscribe.

I get these consistently too... what is disturbing is the complete flip flop in the email... Do you have somebody to refer or don't you?  And you say it's a customer but then say you are a marketing company and you don't work directly with buyers and sellers...

Way too much parsing of words to believe that it isn't a waste of time and money.: Bold and Underline are mine.

Hello Kevin I am looking for some help in your area. A customer of mine, Sofia, is looking for some property. If you have time to help them, I would greatly appreciate it. Please give me a call and I can fill you in on all the details. I can be reached at 406-532-5585. Hope you have a great day!

I also got an email from Brian Besel and then I called him a few days later and we talked at length.  I won't be so quick to paint them with a black brush, as the way he explained it seemed legitimate enough.  There was no bait and switch and no hard sales pitch, but I am doing more research so I thank you for posting this.
