What Does the Pet Project Contest Say About Us?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with MoonDancer Realty, Dillsboro,NC NC# 218097

Reading microsoftThe Pet Project Contest judges have been poring over the hundreds of contest entries and are quite impressed with the level of knowledge of, compassion for and commitment to animal rights and welfare issues that the ActiveRain members have exhibited in their writing.

Over and over, AR members have expressed enthusiasm for the subject and it shows. What may be as interesting as the posts have been the hundreds of supportive comments made by fellow AR members. The sharing, bonding and networking activity has been a joy to observe. We’ve seen members who’d never “met” other members before this contest and can tell that they will seek eReading microsoftach other out for other subjects and referrals.

What does this say about a large segment of the real estate professional community in ActiveRain and how might these posts affect the way consumers view those people who work in our industry? In my opinion, these posts speak volumes about the character and caliber of agents and any real estate consumer would be very fortunate to work with them. If nothing else, the Pet Project Contest has shone a brilliant spotlight on the many fine and caring humans who’ve chosen to be advocates in the real estate business process just as they‘ve chosen to fight against cruelty against animals.

Reading microsoftI could write a lot more on this topic, but I’d rather hear from those of you who’ve also been reading these wonderful entries. What do you think broadcasting articles like these to the general public and to each other says about us?

Let me hear from you…in the meantime, let me clean my reading glasses and get back to reading those entries. The winners will be announced on Monday, April 30th.

Allen, I agree plus for people moving into these communities some of the articles will prove to be a great resource of information.

Good morning Mona. As one of your judges I have read all of the entries. I was moved and educated throughout the process. That said I was more impressed by seeing that the posts continued yesterday, after the contest was done. Clearly this contest touched a nerve and the Active Rain community is filled with many fine folks who value animals as much as business. You can be proud of that, my friend, I know I am.

Mona, this was hands down the best contest ever.  And, as Sheila pointed out, I, too, have continued to post to the group.  I hope that others will continue to post to the group long after the contest has ended.  It is a great spot to share information, stories and photos of your "other" family.

I can't tell you how much I appreciated being able to participate and finding this group of wonderful caring people.

Good luck with the judging, but even more so with continuing the group!

Pets are such an important part of our lives. I have always loved having a four legged friend waiting at home.

I agree, Mona, and think that the contributions to the contest - whether entries or comments - really highlight the caring spirit of our professional community.

Mona, as Ron said, this was a really successful and FUN contest.  I am not really competing, but I wanted to participate anyway.  You have picked some excellent judges who really took this seriously.  Nearly everyone commented on each of my posts, and that is a huge plus for everyone.

My hat is off to all of you for the time commitment that this has taken.  And, I hope, too, that it remains a viable group with people continuing to post to it.  I love reading these contributions!

Sheila, I've read close to all of the entries and I guess because most of them had real substance, you can't just breeze through quickly.  Very satisfying.  I appreciate you and your candor so much.

Ron, I believe this group will take on a life of its own and you are a doll to be so supportive of it and those animals who's lives you've touched and been touched by.

Barbara-Jo...just one?  lol.

Karen, I was so excited by the comments people were making.  It was beyond obvious that folks had really read and absorbed the entries.  No fly by night comments at all.  The caring spirit of our community carries over from our pets to those we work with.

Suzanne, thank you and I'm still tickled that you took the time to call me before April. That was awesome.  This group will remain viable as long as people post to it regularly.  I really see it's function as different from the other pro-pet groups who are also very important.

Mona,  This was the best contest by far.  It's nice to be among people who share a common love of animals, people who don't think we're nuts because we consider our pets part of the family.  It's a comfortable feeling, almost a feelng of being home.  I hope that doesn't sound crazy.  People who understand when we go out of our way to find someone a condo with a 75 lb dog or make a trip to the doggie dermatologist.   I think this is who we all are; it's in all of us.   I've enjoyed making new friends here.

Thank you and all the judges for sponsoring this contest.

Mona

This was one contest I truly enjoyed participating in. It was great to read of other people who support groups dedicated to the rescue and welfare of animals. And to all those who love and take care of their pets.....may you live long and prosper so that more animals can be loved and cared for.

Having read all the posts Mona I was highly impressed with the kind hearted nature of all the writers and people. I knew this would be true about them of course, but the sheer outpouring of love for animals and pets amazed me.
